Lovely hotel and very firendly staff. Junior suite was smaller than expected but location in old part of hotel compensated

On arrival I was greeted by two members of staff who lacked the finesse necessary for an establishment that aspires to five star status.Later in the evening a wedding was in full swing and the (again) staff appeared to be under considerable pressure and service I received suffered accordingly.I suggest you check if a wedding is taking place before you book or you may not experience the peaceful haven you expect.The restaurant is expensive--I thought that a beefburger and chips at over £10 was excessive.The only senior member of staff I came across was abrupt and lacking in warmth.

Hotel was beautiful, food excellent, room very dated and a little dirty. Spa also dated and disorganised, unable to get any treatments, water machine broken, showers mouldy need good overhall. Grounds delightful, restaurant service very good just room and spa let it down.
