Our room in the North Star Hotel was located street side in the original Georgian building. The Cons: The room was small and we had one night without heat and another day without hot water, my son had to take a cold shower. The DART runs directly over the hotel and it could be distracting, but didn't keep us from sleep. The television in our room only had like 4 or 5 channels, we weren't in a lot so it didn't bother us. The Pros: It is located on Amiens Street, situated on the corner with Talbot Street. Talbot Street has a few shops, like shoes, purses, souvenirs, etc. It also runs into O'Connell Street, no more than a 10-15 minute walk. I preferred this location to the busier ones because the entrance to our hotel was never congested and we always had safe easy access to our hotel. The room was small but comfy. I was traveling alone with my 6 year old son so safety was a big thing for me, I felt safe knowing no one could access our floor without a key card. We did not have air conditioning in our room but we did not need it, we ran our heater most of the time. I am from Florida and knew it would be cooler in Dublin but still thought I needed an A/C (just in case), the room was always comfortable. The staff was always friendly and went out of their way to help with any request I had, they also deducted fifty euro from my bill for the heat and hot water issue. All in all we had a really nice stay at the North Star Hotel in Dublin and we would definitely stay there again!

great locationgreat location for the city with the hotel across the road from connolly railway station and only a few minutes walk to o' connoll street.staff and management were very nice and helpful, particulary on arrival, by providing a very good "early bird" evening meal.the room was excellent although the air conditioning didn't appear to be working as efficiantly as i would have expected however, this did not detract from the pleasurable experience of staying in this suite.i would and have recommended this hotel to several freinds

Overall I was happy with my stay in the hotel. The only difficulty I had was that the door did not lock and there was definetely a problem with a fuse, as a result the televsion did not work. As I did not want to change rooms I did not mention the problems untilI was checking out. The room was very spacious, the location was excellent. The staff at reception were very helpful and I was able to leave my bags in the hotel for the morning while I attended a meeting. Overall for the price that I paid for the rom I was more than happy with it

Nice room, forget breakfastStayed in one of the Premier Club rooms. The room was very nice and looks to be recently built. The balcony looked out onto a small but very noisy back street, whilst being nice as you got to look out on to the city, you certainly felt part of the city with all the noise. Room was very hot and the air-con didn't seem to be very effective - it moved air around, made noise, but didn't seem to have any chilling effect.Breakfast was a disappointing experience. Buffet style but the quality of the food was not great. The breakfast room was very crowded on both mornings I stayed, and with the tables so close together made the experience quite uncomfortable.WiFi was expensive at EUR14 per day and was intermittent. The promised "Premier Club Lounge" was a little disappointing - a coffee vending machine and some bottles of water were all that was there... none of the various items to eat as promised in the images on the hotel's website. The panoramic views they promised certainly were panoramic.... but of other buildings close by rather than something more interesting.May stay here again as it's convenient for the office I have to visit, but will be searching for alternatives.

Staff was nice, but hotel is not in the best location for tourists visiting Dublin. Hotel was old, no elevator, across from train/bus station that drew undesirable element, and carpet in hotel was in dire need of cleaning. I would not stay here again.

Friendly staff and the best part of all was Kiernan, the Concierge. He is a wonderful resource for information, e.g., where to go, what to see, planning side trips and making the arrangements. Our first time in Dublin was greatly enhanced by his knowledge and willingness to help. We chose this hotel blindly off the internet because of its proximity to the bus and train, and in particular the fact that the bar is to the side of the hotel and not directly under the rooms, thus making it quiet. The train does run directly over the reception area, but we didn't hear it in the room. I would definitely stay here again.

If you are unluckly enought to get a room in the front of the hotel, you wil hear and feel the train go buy frequently. Ask for a room in the back by the parking lot. It's not in a great part of town, so safety is a concern in the late hours. The bar/restaurants were fair, not good. The staff was nice though and most of them went out of their way to help. The food in Ireland overall is bad, so sending yourself a care package from the states beforehand would be a great idea. Good travels to you.

I stayed at the North Star recently and did not really expect to much but was pleasantly surprised. It is very convenient to all everything you would ever need in the city. It is right next to the main bus terminal, across the street from a train terminal, a tram runs almost outside the door and the staff are so friendly. What more could we ask for. The bar was lovely and lively and enjoyed some delicious pub food served by a bartender called Seamus. Talk about irish hospitality. We will definitely be back next time we visit Dublin.

Great Location Lovely room, friendly staff 10/10I stayed at the North Star hotel for a business trip and stayed in one of their executive room very large size room with all the comfort. The hotel has as well the New Premier club room whcih your company can have for a corporate rate if you come to Dublin on a regular basic. I am pretty happy about that as I will have to travel to Dublin very often.Love the Vip lounge and the food so good mamamia good size of portion and great value for money. The staff of the hotel very helpful. Travelling on my own and not knowing the area very well. I must say the staff did everything to make me feel comfortable and provide me the service I needed.I would highly recommend anyone travelling to Dublin to use the North star Hotel and the Premier Club room. They are fabulous rooms four star product.

The train track was right outside our bedroom window so I was woken up every time a train went past. It was very noisy and the other guests were very loud returning to their rooms which woke me up several times.
