The hotel was beautiful. It lacked the amenities I had expected. The glamorous quality of this hotel clearly overshadowed it's lack of amenities. It does not even have a fridge or mini bar in the room. So I wouldn't recommend an extended stay.

Really enjoyed the historical charm of this hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh. Bathroom was a little antiquated - leaky shower, sink that didn't drain. Charming hotel! Elegant view into Pittsburgh's past. Great location within shopping areas and Melon Arena.

The service was top notch. Valet parking at $27 per day was high. The room air conditioner didn't cool; we opened the window but the temp dropped to 39 overnight so it was difficult to regulate the temp in the room. The staff was extremely helpful at the front desk and in the restaurant.

The convenient location of hotel to ball park which was the reason for visiting Pittsburgh. The lack of places to eat breakfast on a Sunday or holiday in the downtown area. Loved the visit and the hotel and would love to stay there when the downtown area is alive with people.

Very clean, staff very helpful and professional. I am uncomfortable with people taking my bags to my room. Great!

Our stay at the Omni William Penn was very pleasant and provided for a great getaway weekend. The staff was very courteous and friendly and the hotel was very impressive with the open lobby and classy style. The room was much smaller than we expected--just enough room for a bed, small desk and TV. The location was great for downtown activities, such as baseball at PNC Park and the rivers.

Overall atmosphere and ambience of the lobby area was superior. Really, nothing to report. Great location to theatre district and shopping. A feel of true downtown hotel. Spacious rooms but bathrooms were clean but small.

We were going to the 1st preseaon Steelers game. My 9 yr old son is a HUGE fan and the trip was a surprise for his birthday. We're from Ohio so of course we needed to stay over. Most hotels were already full and this hotel was the 1st to have a room available. So, it took it. My reservation was for 2 double beds. I specifically stated 2 adults and 2 children. We arrived around 2 p.m. (BEFORE checkin time) and they only had rooms with 1 bed available. They said they could send up rollaways for the boys. When we got to our room it was extremely small! There was absolutely no room for rollaways. There was barely enough room for what was already in there. At check in they said they'd bring the rollaways right up. 2 1/2 hrs. later we still hadn't heard anything from anyone. We ended up calling to cancel the rollaways and just asked that they bring extra blankets and pillows so the boys could sleep on the floor. (That took about an hour.) When I made the phone call I found out that they were planning on charging me $25 for each rollaway. That was never mentioned at check in AND my reservation was for 2 beds - not for 1. Thank goodness we cancelled them. The room was very dusty (my son has asthma). When we arrived there was a tray from the room next door in the hallway. They had evidently gotten room service. The tray was still there when we got back from the game late that night. The staff was unfriendly, with the exception of the valet crew. For the price we paid this hotel was not worth it. Never again.

I booked 1 night for July 4th. I brought a guest from out of town that had never been to Pittsburgh. Upon my arrival I had been told that my prepaid room, which I confirmed on the way, was now being occupied. We were given a room with a murphy bed. The floors and bedding had stains. I approached the front desk 2 hours after I had checked in, after a long day of traveling, demanding a new room or a refund. They gave me a room that was supposedly being held for another guest. Although the new room was up to my expectations, it was too late to enjoy it and my guest had now had a poor first impression. I never recieved an apology or even any sort of reimbursement. If you are looking for good service this is not the hotel you should choose.

We arrived at the William Penn expecting great things from the recent reviews on this site. However, when we pulled up to the hotel late in the evening, there was a large group of drunk people smoking at the entrance, and we had to wait 10 minutes for the valet to respond to our request. The hotel lobby is absolutely gorgeous, a great location to relax and have a conversation. While our room was spacious, it was rather dimly lit and dull compared to the rest of the hotel. The bathroom looked like a remodel was in order as well. We ordered room service twice during our visit, and the food was pretty tasty with speedy service (35 minutes or less!) Although we didn't have time to stop for the Sunday brunch, it looked really good as well. Overall, we had expected a little more in terms of the room quality at this hotel, but the stay was still fairly enjoyable.

My friend and I were down in Pittsburgh for a Steelers- 49ers game and had a blast the entire weekend. The staff was friendly and considerate. One of the best moments was when my friend realized we were staying in the same hotel as the 49ers (since I didn't tell him that was why I wanted to stay there). Even though I'm a Steeler fan, that was well worth the trip.

Pittsburgh is the best city on the planet. Bathroom was tiny, closet-like. Odd in such a nice hotel. Hotel/Pittsburgh-the best! Bathroom in room was very tiny. Odd for how nice the hotel was. I actually thought the bathroom was a second bathroom with the real bathroom being elsewhere. All closets were closets.

It is a beautiful historic building with charm, class and grace! It is time to update the rooms with new electronics and window treatments. This is one of my favorite hotels in the world! It has so much class, grace and history that you feel it immediately upon walking in the door. The people seem proud to work at The Penn, I am always proud to stay there!

Visited this location for a concert at Mellon Arena, which is in close walking distance and a safe, well-lit hike...so the location was ideal. I didn't want to re-circle the very busy block to find the parking lot, so I paid over $20 for valet, self-parking would have been $7, I think. That's the only drawback I could come up with...besides the drink machine being totally sold out on our floor, and checkout took awhile (no bill was left at our door for self-check-out)...but these aren't big problems, IMO. The room we had (king bed) was beautiful: nice bed, flat-screen television, and not a cramped room by any means. We didn't get to enjoy the restaurants, but the facilities looked great, and they have a Starbucks in the lobby. Overall, a beautiful place, not cheap but I thought it was worth the money.

Concierge/Bellmen exceptional service. Treated as budget traveler/bad room. We were greeted with exceptional service by bell staff at front door. Front desk staff was not as friendly, we were given a handicapped room and told that no others were available. Empty lemonade carafe across from check-in desk with dirty cups and no trash receptacle. Keys were difficult to use in room doors.

It's a beautiful hotel located in the heart of Pittsburgh and very convenient. As indicated earlier, the room was extremely small - hardly room to walk around. Also, there was a lot of noise (slamming of doors and etc.) very early in the AM. Overall, the stay was quite nice since we did not have to spend a lot of time in our room. Otherwise, it would have been claustrophobic.

It was perfectly situated. Went for a Steelers game & sightseeing & walked everywhere. The room was too hot with only a heater. I had to open the window (without a screen) to cool it down & in the winter it was too windy. The location was perfect - right in the middle of downtown. We walked everywhere (Heinz Field, Carnegie Science Museum, Senaotr Heinz Sports Museum, etc.) or took the subway (Station Square). Two bad things that really were bummers and affected our stay: (1) the room was too hot and the walls were paper thin (had to turn on the TV at 1 am so we didn't have to hear the occupants next door "going at it".)
