General Description

Ideally located in the heart of Mazatlan's lively Zona Dorada (Golden Zone) and stretched over one-quarter mile of sandy golden beach , the Playa Mazatlan has been providing legendary hospitality based on rich Mexican traditions to countless visitors from around the world since 1955. This full-service resort with its friendly staff has the highest number of repeat guests in the city. Playa Mazatlan features Colonial-style architecture with rustic Mexican decor, surrounded by lush gardens, pools and waterfalls. In addition to traditional spa services, the Playa Mazatlan offers a pre-Hispanic spa featuring a temazcal (an igloo-shaped room where you are seated around red-hot lava rocks) and cenote (cave pool), located right here on the property. For evening entertainment, Happy Hour is from 4-6 p.m. daily and there is live music for dancing every night. Each Saturday the Playa Mazatlan's dinner-show, La Original Fiesta Mexicana, will take you on a journey to experience some of Mexico's richest traditions including folk entertainment, live music, dancing and great Mexican dishes. Our ocean view room was kept immaculately clean and well supplied. The hotel staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Most staff personnel speak English and were eager to provide assistance. The location is amid the tourist zone and made for a short walk to restaurants and shopping areas.

We have been visiting Mazatlan for the past 25 years amd we have visited all the major hotels in the area and without a doubt the Playa is the only one we could ever stay at. The entire staff is helpful, friendly and they go out of their way to take care of your needs. They may be an older hotel but they have by far the largest beach front and they are constantly doing upgrades on the hotel. Go, stay at the Playa, you will not be sorry....

At first I was doubtful about the hotel we stayed in, due to it being one of the oldest hotels by the Golden Zone in Mazatlan, Mexico, I thought It was not going to provide us with the adecuate essential services. But I was totally wrong, thanks to the reviews I previously read regarding the Hotels with ocean front view, 90% of the customers were repeated clients of Hotel Playa Mazatlan. I took that into consideration and was not disappointed, neither my family. We stayed in this wonderful hotel for 8 days. The Ocean front view with 2 Islands right in front was an amazing sight to see specially when waking up in the morning. The Hotel Playa Mazatlan sure needs a little updating on furniture but what the heck, most of the time you are either taking a PULMONIA(open aired taxi) to go either sightseeing, or walking downtown old Mazatlan. One cool thing about the Pulmonia is that if you get one, paid them to take you on a tour of Mazatlan, they even allow you to take beer with you while sight seeing. It will cost you around 200 pesos (approx. 18 U.S dlls.) for the tour. Also dont be afraid to try restaurants away from all the hustle and bustle of the Zona Dorada. If you liked sea food you have to go to "La Puntilla". Delicious fresh sea food. Its located on the southern part of Mazatlan close to the shipyards. Just asked the PULMONIA driver to take you there. Also I would recomend going to "BIGOTES" If you like pork, man o man, you got to try this restaurant out, is DELICIOUS. When I travel, I always try to stay away from all the local restaurants around the beach area, they are over priced.

I've been coming to Mazatlan for over 20 years and the Hotel Staff at the Playz always remembers our family and treats us very well. Good secured environment for young families and great memories.

The beach was the best but if you want a cabana get up early and claim it. Most were reserved with towels and stuff by the time we woke up and we are early risers. The location was very convient to walk to stores and resturants. It was a little noisy, lots of kids and family groups so not a good place for a romantic getaway. The beds were hard and the sheets a little scratchy. They could have been better. We had an ocean view room and that was spectacular. Also, I loved the pool and the little resturant by the pool.

had ocean front room on second floor...tree was derectly in front of balcony..hotel let us switch rooms to better view, no hassle,,,they were very friendly. breakfast buffet is somewhat pricy for the amount of various foods..just went across the street to a choice of 20 different resturants..no problem..don't go over Easter weekend,,way too crowded. beach was great

The Hotel Playa Mazatlan was beautifully located right on the beach, with bungalows in the sand for the use of the hotel guests. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was very comfortable and clean. Air-conditioning kept the room cool, and the filtered-water tap in the bathroom kept the stomach bugs away. Great location, with restaurants and shopping a walk away.
