"Hope whoever owns this hotel will read this and do something about their staff. Only one acually cracked a smile and was helpful. The others didn't think their job was to service the public. Requsted roll away bed with reservation, finally got it. The lockers to store your bags are a peice. The only good thing about this hotel was its location. If you need any assistance with your room or the hotel in general, you are on your own! Don't ask the front desk, they are too busy doing who knows what! Certainly not their job! "

This hotel was very clean and the custodial staff courteous. Front desk staff needs more training in customer service. The first room wee were given was too small for 2 people and the bathtub drained onto the floor beside the commode. Some rooms share bathrooms. Preview rooms first before officially accepting. The location is great; general manger helpful when I finally saw him. To be fair they are remodeling; so these things should go away. p.s. no plug ins in bathroom so take an extension cord and power bar or two.

It was small, but clean. We were not aware that there was no extras. Would have packed a blow dryer if I had known. Great location and very safe. Weekend traveler. Two adults and a teenager.

If all you care about is location, this one is great just off Time Square. I was really disappointed that the rooms on the Portland Square Hotel website did not look like the room I was booked into at all. My room was very small, had stained carpets, dirty walls, sticky bathroom floor. Won't be going back.

Our experience was great at the Portland Square. We stayed four nights. The room was small but spotless. The location was prime and across the street was the Evergreen DIner with wonderful food but a very inexpensive menu! The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. This hotel was very inexpensive in comparison. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean room with a comfortable beds!

This hotel was perfect for our family of 4. We have 2 small children and we could walk to anything. It isn't a new and updated faclity however we appreciated the character of the building. I felt very safe and infact my daughter and I walked to Starbucks late one night. The rooms are small, cozy and fits the norm of a small NYC apartment. My little girl wants me to mention it was small, but we weren't in our room a lot... only to sleep. Hotel staff was very helpful and always cheery!

This place is great! I stayed for 8 days, the room was cleaned every day, the staff was very friendly, helpful, and courteous! The bed was especially comfortable, and the duvet was a great touch. This is not a ritzy place, but I have to say that the location is second to none! You are a half block from anything, the subway, Times Square, broadway shows, Starbuck's, a couple of Irish pubs, and many restaurants! I traveled alone, felt very safe, and would and probably will stay again.
