Hidden costsThe hotel is very modern and stylish. It is close to all local amenties, including bars and fab restaurants. There are gorgeous views from the windows i.e. of Durham's river bank etc. Staff were mostly friendly and courteous. Breakfast was very good. Overall a pleasant stay. Our only gripe would be the hidden charge for the car parking, we had to pay even though we were guests of the hotel. However, if you park just outside it's absolutely free.......nobody told us that!

Nice placeNew hotel, spotlessly clean with spacious rooms. Convenient location and, if you're facing the river (as we were), good views. Very well-appointed and quiet. Absolutely the only fault I could find was that the temperature of the shower water fluctuated gently, which was a little unnerving.

The hotel was wonderful, brand new and very modern. There was plenty of space in the rooms and we had a fantastic view of the river and castle. The only thing that let it down was the breakfast, there was no organisation, no cutlery on the tables, no food left in the hot plates or what was left was cooked within a inch of its life! One member of staff was very helpful however she was rushed off her feet trying to help all the other guests. There only appreared to be bolied eggs however when i enquiered the woman told me we had to order eggs whcih meant the rest of our breakfast went cold. There were no condiments no butter etc etc the list was endless which was a shame because the resturant is lovely. All in all i would love to go back and stay and would recommend it to my friends (once i had advised them how the resturant works!)

Lovely place to stay in DurhamA really nice hotel with a pleasant 5 minute walk into the main town. The room was really nice and new with a flat screen on the wall, hair dryer, tea & coffee, fridge, iron etc.We paid extra for breakfast and so glad we did. Its a buffet style with everything possible there for you to eat and its all really really nice. A very pleasant stay and would definatel recommend this to anyone business or pleasure.

Romantic weekend in DurhamLovely hotel. Ordered room service but did not get the meal we asked for. After returning home we realised that they had charged us for a drink from the mini bar which we never used. We took some cans of coke out so we could fit our bottle of bubbly in to chill but returned the cans afterward. Our stay would've been perfect if we had been given a room with a view of the river rather than the car park! Otherwise a lovely hotel in a lovely city

Enjoyed our StayExcellent accommodation. The room was a standard double, but it was a good size and over looked the river. Both room and ensuite were very clean. Breakfast was included and there was a good choice of food . Would certainly use this hotel again and recommend it to others.

Fantastic Hotel - Disappointing end. This was our 10th anniversay and we were looking forward to a great night away. To be fair the hotel was fantastic, great location, waterfront view of the castle and particularly great value for money. Great breakfast on the Sunday morning. Problems with the room staff on the Sunday after breakfast was a blight on the stay and I am waiting to hear if we receive any notice from the Management. Dont let it put anyone off though. I hope it was a one off.

We were happy with the hotel - it is in a very convenient location near the centre but also quiet. The staff on Reception were very pleasant, helpful and efficient. Neither of us could get a signal for our mobile phones - when we mentioined this to the staff they said they were aware of the problem. The pillows were uncomfortable - two meant your head was too high, one made it too low.

Comments for the Radisson Hotel, DurhamOverall I was not impressed with this hotel. Negaive points were as follows:1.) The reception staff were not that friendly and not accomodating for children. 2.) There was dried blood on the sheets and scab in the bed. 3.) We had to wait over two hours for our room to be ready.4.) The resturant was closed on Sundays and we were not informed. After several messages for room service we went to the reception to complain and they informed us that the resturant was closed. This was not communicated to us when we checked in.5.) The wi-fi was not available.6.) There is a 6.50 charge for parking overnight, which is not on you website. The positive aspects:1.) Breakfast was very nice and lots of choice was available.2.) The bar area was comfortable.3.) The pool area was really modern and warm.4.) The rooms are very spacious.5.) The hotel is centrally located and only a short walk into the city centre.6.) The bar, pool and resturant staff were really nice.

Very clean and well situated; pleasant and efficient departureThe outlook from our rooms was unexpectedly good. We were disappointed not to get breakfast in the price and the 'take it or leave it' attitude at the desk was a poor start but the rooms were exceptionally clean and pleasant. We all slept well in comfortable beds. Reception in the morning was so different we thought we were in another hotel and parking was quickly sorted out when we returned later.

Durham RadissonSuper hotel - modern, clean room - great pool with jacuzzi and nice changing rooms - perfect location on the river with a 5 minute walk into centre of Durham. Only one gripe - T.V. did not have teletext and therefore no subtitles which is a problem if you are deaf, like me!

The room and lesieure facilities were brilliant. All staff were very welcoming and friendly. On the first night we decided to eat at the hotel resturant and my partners meal was really nice however, my meal wasn't very good at all, so bad that I left the majority of it. The food, drink and mini bar were also very expensvie. The rest of our stay was really good though and we really enhjoyed our weekend away.

This was our second visit to this hotel and chose not to use the restaurant facilities at breakfast time as our first experience earlier in the year included not being shown a table and then waiting for a table to be cleaned. This was then followed by waiting for cutlery to be available and then clean plates and hot food to be available at the buffet at the same time. Having read subsequent reviews we considered that the hotel manager had still not resolved these problems and by the sound of the crashing of broken glass while we were booking out of the hotel at the end of our latest visit - breakfast time still appeared to be an outstanding issue for the manager. The other irritation is the volume of food trays left in the corridors from early evening to the following morning – surely this is an easy matter to resolve? I also had to dispute my Lateroom.com deal when booking out of the hotel as their systems do not automatically pick this up. Apart from these comments, this is a good hotel – it is clean, modern, has great views, is well positioned for the City Centre and we will continue to use and recommend it (together with alternative breakfast and evening meal options!) to other people.

Clean, well located, highly reccommended! The hotel was just a bridge across the river from Durham proper, room was clean and modern, not a bad size either. Hotel facilities were excellent, swimming pool/jacuzzi/steam room/sauna area was particularly nice, would go again especially at £69 a night.

An excellent, modern, hotel with all amenities. Close to the town centre and easily accessible. The rooms are light, bright and modern. This is a very good hotel at Late Rooms rates, however...The price of everything outside of the room rate is extortionate. Breakfast is an extra £20 pounds if booked through late rooms (£14.95 if paid for at the hotel). Beer costs 1.39p a pint in the nearby Yates bar and £3.80 in the hotel bar. My advice: stay here, but eat and drink in the bars and restaurants nearby (200 yards over the bridge in front of the hotel to the Gala Centre or turn right out of the hotel and walk 200yards into the town itself). One whinge. The picture on the satelite tv in both the rooms that I had on the two separate nights that I stayed 'froze' repeatedly, making viewing anything a frustrating and challenging experience. That said, I would stay (but not eat or drink) here again.

FantasticHaving just come from Denmark, where I stayed in a hotel where the rooms were like closets, this hotel was fantastic!!!!The room decor and cleanliness were stunning. The small details were environmentally friendly, I particularly was fascinated by the fact that you needed to put your room key in the slot to turn on the lights. As a North American I was very impressed.Morning buffet was disappointing. Choices were stodgy, and not healthy. No porridge, fruit choices were minimal.Evening meals in the hotel were equally disappointing, only high fat choices, no healthy heart choices. But I would stay again at this chain. Wonderful!

Business stay in DurhamThis hotel is brand new. It is conveniently located next to the river within easy walking distance (over a pedestrian footbridge) to theatre, cinema, restaurants, bars and shops. The hotel is spacious and there seemed to be ample car parking. Charging residents £6.50 a day to park seems a bit of a cheek. The room was a good size and very comfortable. WiFi is available free throughout the hotel. The swimming pool and leisure complex were lovely. The hotel's restaurant was fine for breakfast but a bit pretentious and expensive for an evening meal. One night I opted to eat in the restaurant but from the room service/bar menu, which I was much happier with, as a single traveller. I got a very good rate through Late Rooms. Would recommend to anyone.

Lovely RaddisonWe were attending a wedding in Durham and although I live in the city thought it would be a treat to stay in the hotel with my girlfriend rather than getting taxis.Hotel is new and very clean. Room was lovely. My only criticism is that they do not have either a spin drier or plastic bags for wet swim wear in leisure centre changing rooms. so i had to walk back to my room carrying wet trunks. Will definately stay again!

Leisure breakThe hotel was well located, near to the city. The room was large, well decorated and clean.Reception failed to explain that the bedroom door card also operated the lift but fortunately a fellow passenger initiated us.The parking was convenient, at the back of the hotel but it came at a price. Again reception failed to explain that to exit the car park the card needed to be validated, thus requiring re-entry to the hotel for that to occur. We stayed over night on a Friday and Saturday and noticed that the car park was definitely fuller on the Saturday, so depending on the season may be one needs to be there early. The restaurant was excellent value on the nights we were there as they offered an Italian Buffet meal (eat as much as you liked), starters, pizzas and pastas for £10.50. The food was tasty and plentiful.Breakfasts were excellent.............good selection of cereals, juices, breads etc, as well as everything to make a 'full English'.DO ask for your fried egg/poached egg before getting all the other items or you are likely to find your bacon, sausage etc. cold before the eggs arrive.Would use the hotel again.
