Do NOT stay here. The hotel was very dirty, ragged carpet, and hotel customer service was horrible. Billing was completely messed up. People were wandering the halls that did not belong in the hotel...it was a nightmare. Strongly suggest you stay somewhere else.

the best think about this hotel is the location, it's about 10 short blocks from Times Square, altough the hotel's actual surroundings are a bit strange, it's a block full of asian karaoke bars and restaruants, but it's quite safe. The staff was fine, not overly attentive, but they weren't rude either. Room was clean. Compliementary breakfast was fine, altough the room fills up quickly and you might have to wait for a seat. Overall it was a good stay.

We stayed at the Red Roof Inn with a High School group of 13. The price was great, as was the location! We walked daily to Times Square, Macy's and the Empire State Building. It is also a short walk to Madison Square Garden. I would recommend this hotel to everyone!

I stayed here for its location. Near Penn Statin, subway, and Korean Restaurants which are open until very very late so I could grab a bite after my activities.

There are two main reasons to stay at Red Roof: 1) it's cheap, but not scary. It's a well run hotel. Functional like all the Red Roof Inns, and not too small. 2) Location for train/subway. It is a brisk 10 min walk from Penn Station and a few blocks from the 6 line subway. Note- it is not a pretty area. If you want a neighborhoody feel with pubs, etc, this is not the hotel for you. Midtown is just a series of trucks rumbling down streets! It's not unsafe, though, just not picturesque Manhattan.
