On the Beach! The Richmond Hotel is an oceanfront hotel located in the heart of Miami Beach's historic art deco district. Perfectly situated for peace and relaxation, the Richmond is close enough for every convenience. Just 2 short blocks from the Miami Beach convention center and the theater of the performing arts, the Richmond is located directly on the beach and Atlantic Ocean, and is only a five minute walk to Lincoln road and a 10 minutes walk to Ocean Drive restaurants and clubs. The six-story Miami Beach hotel has 92 guestrooms. Rooms are decorated in a deco style. Beds have blond oak headboards and all white bedding, with built in shelves and silver bedside lamps. Richmond hotel rooms include armchairs, large mirrors, Plasma TV, faux-1930s clock radio, and deco inspired floor lamps. Closets include red umbrellas, safes, and bathrobes. On the walls are framed, enlarged prints of Miami Beach postcards. The Richmond hotel features an outdoor pool surrounded by a piato with lounge chairs, tables, and a spa tub in the shape of a half-moon. A winding cement path leads past a fountain to a key-coded gate, a small wooden boardwalk, and the beach. The hotel's caf offers breakfast from morning until mid-afternoon, and in the evenings, guests can sit on the front porch, shaded by tall palm trees, to enjoy a drink. There is a small, private patio on the fifth floor, which is available for all guests. Two meeting rooms have wooden floors and tables, and a third has been restored to resemble a vintage movie theater, with original art deco sofas and chairs, and a 100-inch screen. The six-story Miami Beach hotel has 92 guests room. Considering that it's a economy type hotel... ...It had a good location, ...right on the beach, ...There were a lot of good stores. BUT, It was not as posh as the web site apprears to be. The biggest problem were the thin walls. I was unfortunate to have this"lovely couple" next door who were quite loud. I could hear them having sex, Watch TV until the wee hours ( 3 to 5 AM). If you're a light sleeper you should bring your ear plugs or go somewhere else. Besides the thin walls they had those doors that connect the rooms, and the sound went right thru. This hotel is a place to crash after patying, because the "amenities are not that great. The gym very small and underequiped, the pool small and unattractive, no room service, There is a cafe, but not a real restaurant. I suggest that the future prospective traveler do more research than just the web site, because it can be misleading. There were other great hotels listed on ONLINE TRAVEL WEBSITE the seemed to be a lot better for the same price. I love Miami, but the hotel was vey disappinting. I'll do my homework next time. I thought about going to another hotel, but I paid for this one and so I endured. Good luck, and good night. Sandro T

The location of this hotel was fantastic -- easy access to the beach with a nice pool area and within walking distance from nice restaurants and shopping. Great location for the money. The rooms were clean but nothing special. One criticism -- our room door kept rattling all night. I think it was the wind or something from the hallway. We had to put a chair in front of the door to stop the rattling and get some sleep! Also beware -- we were early and were not able to check into our room until exactly the check-in time. There was no flexibility to allow for early check in.

"Most of the front desk people were pleasant. When I brought it to their attention that the frig did not work I was ""interrogated"" as to why I did not notify them the day I checked in and not the morning after!? -He could have simply told me it was controlled by the wall light switch. I was very disappointed they had $* mojitos & $* beers at the pool. Easy access to beach, Ocean, and Lincoln Rd. Small rooms and cheap stands for tv and toiletries. NO VIP passes to any nightlife. Main selling point: LOCATION!"

First of all, our rooms were not ready until 6 at night while we sat in the lobby for an additional 2 hours. The cleaning ladies did not come, you had to call every day for them to clean the rooms. The menu at the hotel "cafe" was insufficient. There was always only 4 things to choose from no matter what time of day. Three chicken fingers was $12.00. Outrageous, and they were not filling at all. The location was great and overall the stay was great. We only started off on the wrong foot, in which they were not very accomodating for it. We thought we would at least have a night comped, but we only received an hour later for checkout. Overall it was clean, good location, steps away from the beach and all the nightclubs!!

The pool area was lovely, and led out to the Beach, with locked gate. The room was too small, nowhere to put toiletries in bathroom, etc. The food was very expensive in the little cafe. Would not go back due to room. People very nice. Good location.

I've been to Miami several times, and each time stayed in a different hotel. From now on, I will stay at the Richmond whenever I visit South Beach. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and attractive. The pool area is beautiful and the acess to the beach was extremely convenient. I'm looking forward to staying at this hotel again.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights and thought it was ok compared to hotels we stay at while on vacation. The staff was pretty friendly. The rooms could definitely use an upgrade. The evening cook at the hotel was a bit clingy and chatty than needed! Our oom was cleaned everyday and we loved the location!

The staff is friendly and the hotel is clean. The bathroom is very outdated and small nothing nice about it. The walls are paper thin, my granparents were staying next door and I didn't have to shout to call for them. Now the negative aspects about this hotel is that the staff made me call 5 times before confirming I could check out a hour later. They charge $37 a day for valet parking and $10 a day for internet.

I had a great experience at the hotel including the delicious breakfast. The pool was great, hot tub also and the ocean is just there. It is a great hotel if you want to stay just over the weekend and just have time, because it is noisy.

Location was great right on the beach, the walls are so thin you can hear EVERYTHING, I mentioned it to the man at the front desk and he agreed the walls were thin and they haven't gotten around to fixing them yet. When we checked inn it was $37 to valet I asked what my other options were and they told me down the street but it was $16 everytime you go in and out. we went ahead and valet with them but soon found out that wasn't the truth it was $16 for the whole day or hourly which was cheaper then valeting. i was very dissapointed about that decipt! I will not go back
