My wife and I stayed at The Royal Horseguards for over a week in early July 2009. Simply put a wonderful experience that exceeded our expectations. I have stayed in other hotels in London, some at higher and some at lower price points, and this hotel far exceeded any prior experience. Location, comfort, quality, service and attention to detail are just some of the words that express our experience. One closing remark. We walked by more than a few hotels during our stay that competed for our business prior to selecting The Royal Horseguards. In all cases my wife and I often said - Nice hotel, but we are glad we chose The Horseguards - really!!!!

This hotel was very centrally located. Service and accommodations were very good, clean and comfortable. Anything lower than Superior room is small. They upgraded us without requesting and without additional charge (not sure why). Would highly recommend for the price and location.

This hotel is ideally situated on the Thames River within walking distance of shops, restaurants and theaters. I had a very nice large room with a river view and a very large bathroom with a separate shower. The restaurant has great food with the best lobster bisque I've ever tasted. The room was clean and well maintained. My only complaint is that when I arrived there were no wash cloths in the bathroom and was told I had to wait until the next day to get one. Overall, I liked the hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Too many things to list on what went wrong. Stayed in the Two Story Suite, it was the only thing that was nice. The staff is anything but professional, customer service is non-exsistant. The staff could care less if your there. I've had better service at McDonalds. They need to train their staff on interacting with customers.

Very pleased with the Hotel. Service was consistently very good and the room was very well appointed, although as with all London Hotels not massive, but plenty big enough.Very good Bathroom with excellent shower. Plug in for IPOD into the rooms speakers was a nice touch.Didn't eat in the Restaurant, but breakfast the following day was very good.

excellent hotel 5* accommodation and staffSince my last stay ,this hotel has undergone a major refit and impressive it is. Beautiful furnishings and air con that works! nice touches such as a complimentary service tray that inlcudes free items to take. Elemis shampoos and shower items and heated floor in bathroom with a TV built in over bath. The staff were all professional, friendly and efficient and investment in their customer service training certainly showed. We had breakfast included which offered a good selection and choice. Will definitely stay here again

Upon arriving there were three or four people behind the check in desk and it took a few minutes before anybody welcomed us and checked us in. This was my only complaint. We were given a comp;imentry upgrade and were really impressed with our room, although we looked over the road there was no noise at all. The hotel interior was also very quiet, no doors banging or hearing anything from neighbouring rooms.Breakfast was fairly standard, nothing great but as it was included in the room rate of £140 for two I had no issue with the fact that it was a buffett, it was hot and tasted fine. All in all I will seek this small chain of hotels out again and use them through laterooms.

The first room that was allocated to us was on the 8th floor and was badly in need of refurbishment. Window was far too high up and no daylight was i n this room due to curtains being drawn all the time and nobody could reach to undraw them. I complained to the Manager about the bed being too hard and he moved us to a room on the 2nd floor which had been refurbished. this was somewhat value for money. I thought the prices were far too high for the quality of the first room and wouldn't recommend but as we were moved to the 2nd floor this was acceptable. My husband and I have stayed in many hotels over the world and this was by far the least value for money. The only thing that I would stay here again for is its location. The food was very good although it wasn't in an abundance.

Customer service was tremendous and all the staff were extremely helpful and friendly in every respect. We found the hotel to be extremely clean and beautifully presented. We paid a small upgrade fee to move to a south facing room which had a fantastic view over the river Thames. There were a few minor problems with the technology within the room where the IPOD dock, sound system and TV system didn't work properly. We asked if someone could look at it and the hotel staff responded immediately but found there was a problem with the system that was beyond their knowledge to repair and would require the equipment installer to repair it. The system was only recently installed and we understand the problems that come with new systems like this. Unfortunately it was unable to be sorted out before we left but appreciate the efforts of the staff to rectify the problem. We rated the value for money as very good (especially for this location in London) but note that we had a special deal rate in January (middle of winter). Breakfast was included in our tariff and was most enjoyable. Once again the service staff were very helpful and friendly. Our only real complaint was the room service on Sunday was started in the morning but was still being completed at 6:20pm which we found a little inconvenient for our circumstances. The room supplies of plunger coffee, milk & biscuits was not replenished and the front desk staff were unable to find more. We were given a 50% discount of our upgrade fee for the problems with the service. After writing this it sounds like a few to many complaints but must emphasize we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this magnificent hotel, will stay here again if the opportunity arises and would highly recommend it.

Sound HotelSuper hotel ,excellent position near Trafalgar Sq, St James Park and key London attractions. Only stayed for one night but was very impressed by the friendly and helpful staff. The accommodation and public rooms are excellently maintained, the only niggle was having a room facing inwards and proximate to the extractor fans, were we staying for any length of time it would have been irksome. Would thoroughly recommend Royal Horse Guards and will use again for business & liesure

Fantastic !I stay in a lot of 4 and 5 star hotels in central London and this was the very best I've stayed in for years. The room was excellent, staff efficient and friendly, lovely view over the London Eye and all the facilities to a very high standard. I must say that for me to say this is amazing as I am exceptionally fussy about hotels having worked in the hospitality industry in the past.I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I had requested to have a twin adjoining to our room and when we got the rooms they were both doubles, they did change the room but it was on another floor. I did feel that the £20 fee for a river view was a little expensive as there were trees blocking some of the view and if it had been summer it would have been even less.I do stay here regularly on business and felt that the standards are higher in the week as the breakfast was not very enjoyable. I do like this hotel as it is in a great location and the rooms are beautiful and well equipped.

Unfortunately awoken by the sound of drilling in the hotel. Hotel is going through refurbishment, but not told this on check-in. Despite two requests to reception to get the drilling stopped, reception claimed that no drilling was taking place on our floor (eighth) and couldn't be from refurbishment work on the fifth floor. Spoke to manager on check-out to register my complaint, reduction was offered on the bill.

We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Horseguards Hotel. I was a little worried that getting such a good bargain was going to mean a room overlooking the bins but we had a great room on the 7th floor. No river view but a view over the roofs of the nearby buildings - not too bad! The room itself was amazing and spotless. I wish i could hire their cleaner to come and clean my house - it was incredible how clean it was. Everything you can imagine is in the room - plasma tv, ipod docking station and a tv in the bathroom which is great (for those looking for the speakers to this it is all linked in to the surround sound for the main tv - instructions explain everything). And they have thought of everything to make your stay really enjoyable. The staff were friendly, taxi's ordered when requested, luggage looked after when needed. Cannot praise the hotel enough and I will certainly be booking up to stay there again next year.

The hotel is very elegant, and the rooms have been refurbished to a very high standard. Although it's a large hotel, our room still had a personal feel to it, and not as if it was one of a hundred clones all decorated exactly the same. We did not ask for a room with a view, but imagine one facing onto the Thames would have been really lovely. Despite our poor view onto a side street with some minor construction works below, the room we stayed in was beautiful and luxurious, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.My only criticism: The waitress serving on the ground floor seating/foyer/bar area may possibly have been new as she was nervous, but was a little disappointed when we were served our drinks in 'sticky' glasses.

We spent one night at the Royal Horseguards during a weekend shopping trip to London and got an excellent deal on laterooms (compared with other hotels in london - £140 b&b was by far the best rate for this class of hotel in its location). The hotel says it is only a 4* but we havn't stayed in 5* hotels that were this good! Great service from concierge & rest of staff, huge room, huge bed as shown in pictures, immaculate bathroom with tv at the end of the bath! delicious buffet breakfast and & great location too, only a few minutes walk from Trafalgar Sq. Customer service was let down in two areas, the inital contact and check in was interrupted by a phone call and secondly we had to wait for a seat at breakfast for about 10-15 minutes. During this waiting time we could have been served coffee etc. Otherwise everything was good.Room was very good indeed - much better than our expectations. It could do with coffee making facilities - but I'm struggling to find fault otherwise.Breakfast was unexpected - our room rate hadnt included it but it was provided as a freebe. Which was nice.

Royal Horseguards Hotel LondonIn London for 1 night for the Theatre. Hotel is in a good location just off Whitehall overlooking the Thames and within walking distance of Trafalgar Square, West End and Theatreland. Our 6th floor room was very clean and had a TV in the bathroom, ipod dock, laptop connection to the main LCD screen, hairdryer, ironing board and iron as well as aircon, a safe and mini bar. Breakfast delivered to the room was excellent and late night drinks and nachos from the bar were good and almost reasonably priced (for Central London). We like staying at the Howard for our occasional slice of luxury but the Royal Horseguards is just as good and we will definitely return.

Plus Points: This hotel has a great location just off Whitehall and is an easy walk to lots of central London attractions. The hotel has an opulent ambience and the staff are exceptionally nice and helpful. I was served real Assam leaf tea at breakfast - top marks for this; other hotels please copy!Minus Points: On our stay in December there was some music noise until quite late presumably coming from function rooms below despite our room being on the seventh floor! Our room, alledgedly an upgrade, had virtually no hanging space for clothes as the closet also housed the minibar and safe - not good enough for a 4/5 star hotel, especially if you intend staying more than a couple of nights!Overall a very nice place to stay in central London.

The hotel was in an excellent locaition as one of our party did not wish to use the underground so we were able to walk wherever we wished to go. THe choice of breakfast was excellent as was the service provided. I was rather surprised our rooms were not available when we arrived but the complementary drinks after our long journey were much appreciated. The hairdryer in our room was broken and was not discovered when the room was checked prior to our arrival. I would stay at this hotel again although one of my party felt the hotel was more like a gentlemans' club than a family hotel.

Staying at Royal HorseguardsI recently stayed at this hotel for the second time in a few months and again had a very good experience at a fantastic bargin price.. Somewhat reluctant to make a good feedback as if too many others decide to book in here there may be no rooms avilable for us next time but will have to run that risk. Excellent hotel with really well furnished and decorated rooms and everything you could need at hand. Attentive and helpful staff too. The room was very nice. Staff were typically snooty as was to be expected in a West End hotel. We were woken up (as was the rest of the hotel) at 4.30 am by drunks playing loud music on our floor. We complained twice and after about half an hour, a member of staff was sent to remonstrate and the music stopped. If I had wanted the stag weekend experience, I would have booked Travelodge. We chose this hotel specifically because we were hosting a dinner at the adjacent National Liberal Club. Initially, the price quoted had been way too high, but by the day of the event it had gone down to £140 for a superior room, so we booked. On arrival, there was some delay to checking in because of the lateness of our booking, but we were given a complimentary upgrade to an absolutely gorgeous room. Very large, with absolutely every mod con and luxury you could wish for. The bathroom was fabulous - a proper, separate shower cubicle (so rare!) and even a flat screen tv built into the wall at the end of the bath. Amazing value for a very nice hotel in a superb location.

We were the first people to stay in that room since it had been refurbished and we were more than impressed with the decor and the television in the bathroom! The hotel staff were all very friendly and accommodating, especially as we had to leave our bag there for a few hours after we checked out the following day. We were also able to check in early which was a great help as we had a show booked for 2.30pm.We had breakfast the following morning which we thoroughly enjoyed and there was plenty of it!All in all, we would definitely recommend it to friends and family and hopefully will return ourselves one day.

Loved this hotel. First visit since refurb and very impressed. Only dissapointed that we had no view from our room (101) and I mean no view just frosted glass. On my previous 2 visits had lovely views over the Thames. Staff friendly and helpful. Service and food excellent. Stayed in many London hotels but this is one of my favorites.

The room was great for 2 people and very comfortable bed. We were on the 9th floor and we could see Buckingham Palace from our room. We were offered an upgraded to a larger Thames river room with breakfast for an additional 25pounds, but we stayed where we were since we were only there for one night. The staff were very friendly and helpful, I would stay here again. The hotel is on the Thames close to the Theatre District, the London Eye, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey. It is a very safe area of London, very close to Downing Street so lots of security.

Very good quality accomodation & nice rooms. Some building work ongoing resulting in no water for 12 hours which they did not advise at the time of booking.

Well what can I say about this hotel other that it is great. Location can not be faulted, staff are excellent, rooms are incredible, especially when you can watch the footie from your bath. This is a 5 star hotel at a 4 star price. If you stay at the Royal Horseguards you will not be disappointed. We shall be staying again.

A central hotel with easy access to major sites and theatre land and with very high standards. Suitable for short breaks or business. Rooms onto river are great. Generally everything was perfect if not a little expensive by North of London standards.

Fantastic for a special occasionI took my husband here to celebrate his 30th birthday, the hotel was great with excellent service. The room was spacious with all of the extra's you would expect from a high end hotel, far better than equivalent hotels I have previously stayed in. It was an excellent location, with the embankment tube just a couple of minutes walk away, it was also close to the london eye, trafalger square and the houses of parliament.

Although we were satisfied with the room in the hotel, we would seriously question the advertised room rate. We chose this one because it was supposed to be a £400 room and obviously with a 'late booking' we were looking for something 'extra special' at a very good price. We had a choice of several other hotels for the price we paid but decided on this one as we thought it was going to be even better. We had been told by friends of ours (who had stayed there earlier in the year) how wonderful the room was but when we checked in we were given a room on the top floor overlooking the roof tops of the surrounding buildings. We do appreciate that not everyone can stay in the best rooms with the views but did expect something a little better for the advertised 'original' rate.

The breakfast was not very good for the price, the toast we were given was only done on one side and the plates were not cleared away once we had finished.

nicely tucked away hotel in a very quite location, but only 2 mins from Trafalgar Sq and the Embankment. Shame we didn't get a room with a view, but that's life. The hotle's facilities were limited as it's quite small, but it was perfect for our one night stay. The reception area etc was of a high quality. Proffesional and curteous staff. The breakfast in bed was great, as we were not limited on choice, and it was presented impecably well. Loved the TV over the bath, and shower was good. Ipod dock was brilliant, and glad i noticed the hotel had one before leaving home. Shame bed was only a double, but very comfy none the less.

A beautiful hotel with a great view of the London Eye. All the staff were very attentive to detail. We had planned to eat dinner at the hotel but since we were casually dressed were told that we needed smart casual to dine. So after eating at a local pub we stopped in for an after dinner drink to see other couples very casually dressed being seated. No hard feelings but the hotel lost our money for that meal.
