The deluxe rooms need to be updated very old furnishings, you do not get what you think you are paying for. Food service was very slow.

I did not like my stay at the Sahara. My husband and I rented 2 rooms. The first set of rooms were filthy. There was hair all over the place the desks and tables were dirty and dusty. We called front desk adn where told that housekeeping could not get there for 1 hour. We called back and asked if we could have another room. We were told wwe could and the next set of rooms were no better. The light in the bathroom wasn't working and it took over an hour before someone would fix it. We had the room reserved Tuesday thru Friday but because of the problems with the room and staff we checked out on Thursday morning at 3:00 am. We will never stay there again.

The hotel room was really old, like out of the 70's. The carpet was filthy, with duct tape holding the carpet together in some places. It was minimally clean.I would never stay here again.

Convenient location. Did not appreciate the $1 a day charge for phone service. We never used the hotel's phones. It was a clean place to be nothing extraordinarily good or bad.

We were disappointed in our room condition. The toilet leaked. The air conditioner was loud. Without earplugs we wouldn't have been able to sleep. The lampshade was broken and the carpet was in poor condition. The drawer on the dresser was falling out and wouldn't stay in. We were told at the desk we could have a room upgrade for $50 per night. We visited other family member's rooms which were much nicer in a different tower of the hotel.

My travel costs which included airfare hotel and rental car was of excellent value for the purpose of the trip I took. Hotel check-in was a little long (Probably 20 minutes) as a result of what appeared to be under-staffing. The rooms were tidy but smelled musty and amost-like. The carpet was torn and the windows did not appear to have been cleaned in quite awhile. I was alone on this trip and did not have to spend much time in the hotel. I would not take my family to this hotel. It needs a lot of work and investor/owner upgrade

Not as nice as others on the strip, and too far to walk to main attractions. It is however right on the monorail line, and service is exceptional. You really feel like a welcome guest. Stay away from buffet, there is a reason it's only $*. All in all a good value, and the rooms are clean even though the decor is old. Friends stayed at more expensive nicer places, but they had terrible service. If you don't care about updated decor, and don't mind not eating at the buffet it's a great value and a decent place to stay.

Our stay at this hotel lasted about an hour, 40 minutes to check in, and another 20 minutes spent in our hotel room looking through the phonebook in order to make reservations at another hotel. The Loby smelled bad and our "non-smoking" room smelled worse than the loby. The carpet looked dirty and there was even a burn mark from an iron, I did not want to sit on the bed while looking through the phone book, let alone sleep in it. On our way out we were asked by the door man why we were leaving so soon, when we told him the reason he said "I'm not surprised". We wasted an hour and one night's stay as they would not refund it. Don't make the same mistake.

The Sahara was a great buy for the price. We stayed there Wed - Fri Morning and Mon, Tuesday. (We left vegas for the Grand Canyon and LA over the weekend). Each time we stayed at the Sahara the staff was very accomidating. The Rooms in the New build looked a little older than what I would consider New but the sahara is an older hotel in vegas so the definition of NEW may need to be reworked. I would classify them as the most recent addition. The beds were clean and we never had a problem with any of the fixtures in the room. The Valet personnel were always nice. The Location was a little out of the way from most of the strip attractions - Too far to walk in 112 degree heat - but not so far that you felt like you were placed out of the loop. there was a great Prime Rib dinner deal for under $10 in the resturant. Overall I would give the sahara a 9 on affordability, 7.9 on room quality and a 7 on location. It's a good buy if you are in vegas to sightsee and need a base camp to just rest and sleep.

We were booked through the internet. I normally stay at the Stratosphere. Oh how I hate I made the mistake of CHANGE! The check in & check out was a joke and one of the gentleman(Sadly I can't descibe him) was most rude. We actually saw him walk away & called a guest a vulgar name. Most clerks were courteous. The rooms were nasty. The carpet in the halls & in the rooms was so dirty, my husband & I wore our shoes and socks in the room at all times/ The first room the mattress corners were curled up as if some one was in the bed already & the dresser drawers were broken & lying on the floor. There was mold in the bathroom ceilings and along the tub. Cigarette burns everywhere (Requested non smoking). They changed us to another room which wasn't much better. I was most embarrassed. The hotel manager was fairly new to the hotel & stated she had not walked the halls of the room. Well she should. I carefully packed some fragranced Shea Butter purchased in the mall of another hotel the day that we departed. We went out to enjoy the rest of the trip before our late night flight. My brother & his wife never allowed the staff in their room to clean up because of the actions of one upon our entry on the 12th floor. First impressions are lasting and I wished I would have listened. I am online againe booking and you best beleive we will go back to our ole gambling ground across the street..."Stratosphere" This hotel should be rated a 1- like a fly by night hotel.

There was nothing that stands out. The hotel had the worse location in the strip. The hotel had the worse location in the strip. We had to take a shuttle to the other casinos and pay $5 a day per person for this service. The shuttles were usually very crowded and not convenient for people with disabilities. The check-in was terrible. There were only 2-3 people at the counter checking people in. Needless to say the line was huge. The swimming pool was nice, but crowded. I also saw a lot of children in diapers in the swimming pool. I decided to stay out of the pool.

The Sahara is in need of some renovations. At times, I thought the elevator would just fall apart. They had a nice pool and friendly staff. The buffet was good and decently priced. The hotel had easy close access to the monorail which is nice to get to more fun, newer hotels on the strip. (beware, the monorail does not operate 24 hours a day) I had to wait to get into my room because they had to clean it. Once I got it, it did not look clean. I would probably not stay here again. It would be worth a little extra money to stay somewhere a bit nicer, that is closer to all the action on the strip.

The Sahara Hotel and Casino is one of the older hotels on the strip. It is located a great distance from the main area of the strip where the newer hotels are. What was great is that the Duce bus stops are conveniently located near the hotel. However, the rooms are not up to date. The plumbing system at the hotel is horrible. In addition to the maid service, on several occasions I asked for extra towels and washcloths?it took them several hours to bring them up. At one point I just decided to leave, but when I came back much hours later?they were not in my room. So I immediately called, because there was a hanging note in the bathroom stating that towels are not to be removed and if they are you will be charged. So I contacted the front desk and expressed my concern?they just blew me off. The next day I asked for a pillow and waited for over an hour, when I did return I was stunned to find the pillow on the floor. What that being said, I may not would have been so angry if perhaps they had it lying on a towel or in a plastic bag?I did not want to place my face on something that has been on the ground for only who knows. In addition, when I took a shower there was a note stating not to adjust the water temperature?as I did not. However, when I took a shower it when from hot to cold repeatedly?it was horrible, all I can say is that I would never ever recommend this hotel to anyone? Not only that they are stingy with the drinks?I know I gambled around $400 and only was able to get one drink?the cocktail lady came up to me and was like where are you gambling?I wanted to say where am I staying!

Pool and casino staff was excellent. Long wait at check in, they had no more than 3 people working the check in counter any day I was there. If you just need a bed to sleep in, Sahara is the place to go. Obviously its one of the oldest casino hotels in Vegas and it shows. That being said the staff was friendly but the long wait at check in was a killer. It was probably 45 minutes to 1 hour line.

This was my first and last time staying at this hotel. The rooms need to be updated. For a hotel on the strip, the rooms look like they belong in a cheap motel. I booked a premium room and was not happy. There was an iron burn on the carpet and the furniture is very outdated. The staff was friendly but appaerance of the place was not what I expected. The pictures online of the rooms are not what you see when you get there.

The Sahara was very comfortable, we liked having the buffet there and able to get on the tram right outside our door. The check-in desk was very friendly. The only problem we had, was our room was not cleaned the first day,and had to request towels to be brought up for the next day. I don't mind not having the bed made, but do need towels for a bath. I would stay at the Sahara again.

Located on the strip. Room desperately needs upgrade. No lighting; television set from 1962. The hotel is located directly on the Las Vegas Strip. Although the staff tries hard, the hotel needs to upgrade furnishings, amenities, common areas and restaurants to compete with newer Vegas players. strictly middle to lower middle class. The area surrounding the hotel has gotten increasingly more seedy as the economy has declined.

The hotel was okay but not great. The hotel itself is run down and pretty far off the strip. However, the room was clean. If you plan on staying there, try to see if you can stay away from the parking garage. My room overlooked the parking garage and it was very loud, especially at night--I think there is some kind of loose grate that makes a loud BOOM noise whenever a car drives over it. What really saved this hotel was the pool--it's really big, clean, and it was a really nice way to spend a few days. There is a bar right in the pool area where you can get some pretty good frozen drinks. Another bonus for this hotel is that it is right on the monorail route. While the hotel is pretty far from the rest of the strip, the monorail is cheap and really easy to use. It runs from 7 am to 2 am on weeknights; 7 am to 3 am on weekends. I would stay here again, but only after seeing if I could get an equally good deal at some of the newer casinos that aren't as shabby.

I stayed at the Sahara hotel 9/4/08 thru 9/8/08. This was not a mini-vacation. I think the room I stayed in had not changed since my last visit in 1961 at this particular hotel. Those were the days of the Rat Pack. The room was clean except for the carpet. It had many stains. I was told that they planned to remodel that section of the hotel. People working there are very friendly and helpful. The people in the casino part are very nice and helpful to novice gamblers. I think this is a fine place to stay if you want to save money and use your room just for sleeping. !

The Sahara is a great hotel in many ways. It in no way compares to the newer ones though. They are in the process of updating and renovating, but being one of the original casinos makes it kind of fun. I don't know what is going on with the 60's pit though... The diner there has pretty decent food and its a great deal for those on a budget. Monorail tickets cost $8 for an all day pass, which will be needed because you will get tired walking. The cost of drinks is reasonable, but they don't use the same alcohol as some higher end hotels. But, overall, it serves its purpose and the pool there was great. Its a great hotel if you don't want to give away your home or next born. But, with that in mind, some of the luxuries of the other hotels are missing.

If you want to check in and check out without every speaking with the hotel staff, the Sahara is where you want to be. This is actually a good thing. The room was just like any other hotel room, we asked for a free upgrade and they upgraded us into one of the newer towers. The older towers smelled a little funky. The Grind Cafe was open 24 hours a day however the service was extremely slow even when we were the only customers present. The Check In process took quite a long time as well, thankfully you can check out on the television in the room so we did not have to wait 20 minutes in line again. Casino was nice, not a large amount of people there, which made it nice. It was at the very far end of the strip, however it did have access to the monorail that took us from the Sahara all the way to MGM Grand in 15 minutes.

The pillows were nice and fat. The location is close to the convention center. Dirty. Worn out, shabby, flaking paint, lumpy beds, dark and additional charge for internet or fridge. This is very shabby, old hotel. They're trying to promote it's history in their marketing materials, but they'd have been better off replacing the worn out furniture and wallpaper. They charged $13 per day for internet service, and there isn't an in room fridge, so they charged $12 a day for that, too. It's dark, dingy, and worn out. Even the buffet food was worse than anything I've ever eaten commercially before. The only positive is that it's about a half mile from the convention center. You can walk it.

The comprobably smaller casino was very nice however, the hotel / entertainment staff's blatent refusal to do their job was second to none on the strip. Your experience will begin with at least a 30 minute wait just to check in to a leaky room. The Rick Thomas show wasn't given the proper support to truly shine by the Sahara's extremely intimate venue and unknowledgable staff. In a positive light, the monorail is connected to the casino, extremely convenient and an overall necessity to travel in the high Nevada temperatures. The dinner buffet was also an inexpensive treat. Overall, it is one of the least expensive hotels with a good location. However, I will spend the extra money for at least some hospitality on my next trip.

I went on business and so I just wanted a comfortable room, basic amenities, and close to the strip's nicest hotels where I can eat at nice restaurants and gamble in class. The room rate was unbeatable...very cheap and it was on par with other hotels like the excalibur...location was nice...right before sahara blvd after which the neighborhood just nosedives...so it was close to great hotels like encore and wynn....carpet was stained and air conditioner fan wasn't that powerful but it was clean, good maid service. TV was small and clientele was short of trashy....but room was just fine for the price.

Room was large, nicely decorated, great view. Food in the Buffet and Caravan Cafe was substandard. Sahara is a decent middle tier hotel on the north end of the strip. Although it's showing some wear, it's clean and well laid out. The large pool area is nothing special, just a large pool in the middle of a vast expanse of concrete, but is still a relaxing place to get some sun and people watch. The staff everywhere, from the registration desk to housekeeping to the casino staff were very friendly and provided great service. The food in the lower end restaurants and the buffet was substandard (greasy and made with lower quality ingredients). I didn't try the higher end restaurants. The casino has a good number of nickel slots for those who don't wish to see large amounts of their money evaporate quickly. All in all a nice place to stay.

while staying at the Sahara the last week of November in 2008, my team knew we were staying at a less than upscale place from the start. We were attempting to economize, but had no idea it would mean that one of the team would be biiten by bedbugs, of all things. We will never again risk staying there. Just because. No one on the team cares that this could happen anywhere; it didn't. It happened there. We usually stay at the Flaminigo, or Hard Rock, and by economizing this year for G2E, we finally found the bottom threshold of our tolerance. The hotel did nothing. No apologies, nothing. Nadda. So, our parent company (a very, very large slot manufacturer) will neverhave to have staff in this position again. I will never bring my team back. EVER.
