"The Salisbury is an excellent location, beside Central Park, walking distance from Time Sq, beside subway. The rooms while maybe needing some decor, were comfortable and clean, The reception area small and maybe gets a bit crowded with people booking in etc, but for vacation when you are out and about this hotel will serve the purpose but if you wanted luxury eg sports facilities and a spacious reception area and maybe bar facilities then you need to go else where but we enjoyed."

Had a wonderful stay. Check-in and check-out each took about 30 seconds! All staff were very helpful. Room was bigger than other older NYC hotels. Our room on back side was very quiet. Great location by Central Park and Times Square was quite walkable. Didn't use the $4 breakfast. Several restaurants and coffee shops are nearby. Short walk to major subway station. Elevator sometimes can be slow. Would certainly stay here again.

The room was spacious, great closet space and enough room for the 3 of us to spread out with our mulitple suitcase. The staff was wonderful and helpful. The door man always there to lend a hand. The location can't be beat we walked to most of our destinations. When we needed transportation, the subway was right down the block or the door man would hail us a cab. We enjoyed our stay and will go back again. It is an older hotel (which we found charming) not all the bells and whistles of the fancy chain hotels, but for as much time as we spent in our room, it definately served us well.

I was apprehensive about staying at the Salisbury because of mixed reviews. However, we were looking for location at a good price, and the Salisbury fit the bill. Subway is extremely convenient, but the walk to the theatre district is very easy. Our room was huge with a microwave and fridge, as well as an extra sink outside the bathroom. The bathroom fixtures were slightly dated, but everything was clean. Ask for a room away from 57th Street. I made the mistake of thinking we would like to see out, but the street noise is pretty bad all night. We did not eat the breakfast because a bagel place is on the corner. Go to the Salisbury's website and get their frequent stay card. It may or may not get you an upgrade, but it's free, so why not? We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here (even though I broke my arm ice skating!), and would definitely stay again.

The Salisbury is an older property. The room was a nice size with a large bathroom, 2 huge walk-in closets with a safe. A small fridge, microwave, and sink also. Our room had 2 queen size beds (a little firm for our taste) and 2 comfortable chairs. We opted for the 16th floor and it was nice. Elevators were a bit slow during peak times but we never had to wait overly long. Very close to Broadway shows and Times Square. Just a couple short blocks to Central Park. A terrific location. Continental Breakfast offered for $4 but we never ate there. There is a "Pick a Bagel" on the corner which was terrific with everything you could imagine for breakfast. We will stay at the Salisbury again on our next trip to NYC.

Our stay at the Salisbury Hotel was overall excellent. The size of the room, a one bedroom suite, was more than spacious for the 5 of us. The location was superb, a short walk from Central Park, shopping and Time Square. If the subway is your preferred method of travel, 2 convenient stops, 1 to 5 blocks, will get you anywhere you need to go. This hotel also offers a continental breakfast which met our needs. Sometimes there may be a short wait, the dining area is small compared to the number of rooms/guests in the hotel. Response time from the front desk was slow, like when I called requesting additional towels that came slow once and never another time. Also, on checkout day, I had to call the bell captain twice to get out luggage picked up, but they have plenty of storage space to store your luggage if you have time to run around before having to go to the airport.
