We went to the San Luis for a quick get-away from the hustle and bustle of the City. The staff was friendly from the minute of arrival. Our room was great-on the 14th floor with a great view of the bay. The decor and amenities were very nice with only a few minor touchups needed. The balcony was great and relaxing. The location of the hotel was also centered on the seawall and conveinent to all things that we did. We will stay here again. We even decided to stay an extra day because it was so relaxing.

My old college roommates and myself reunited after some 20 years and met at the San Luis. The hotel staff was wonderful. They were professional and made our stay special. The pool was beautiful, clean, and we found ourselves hanging out there into the evening. The room was quiet and cleaned twice a day. My only reccomendations would be to update patio furniture. It is too pretty of place for white plastic chairs. Overall, probably the best hotel on Galveston island.

I stayed in a newly remodeled room and paid the upgraded price 270 per night. The faucets were loose in the bathroom, light fixtures hung lopsided and the air conditioner did not cool well, so even though the room was nice there is no attention to detail. They should oversee whoever is contracting the remodel better. The coffee makers are kept in the bathroom. Which is stupid to me. Ever heard of ecoli and bacteria? Also the water reservior in the coffee maker was dirty and had lint and a weird colored gel around the edge. We complained and they said they would replace it. They did not and when I went downstairs to speak to the front desk about it 2x there was never a manager on site and they would not give me a free coffee since I couldn't make it in the room. Later on that night I spoke to someone who said they were a manager and they said they would give me until 1pm to check out instead of 11am to make up for the time I spent at the front desk arguing. The next day we went to the beach and when we got back at noon we were locked out of our room. They neglected to update my passkey. They have a lot of so called security but they do nothing so as a result the pool is filled with outsiders especially at night even though the policy is hotel guest only. My kid could not even swim in the pool without someone bumping into him. Out of 50 people in the pool only about 15 had a room. I stayed at the pool until 1am to see. What good is policy if you do not enforce it? I-am-out-of-space-or-I-would-tell-you-more. This-is-a-nice-place-but-they-could-and-should-do-better-especially-for-the-price.

We checked in about 1pm and the bed had already been turned down. The ice bucket had a welcoming note but was filled with warm water. The curtains had dried vomit on them in several obvious places. There was vomit on the wall by the television. The dust ruffle on the bed was torn and frayed and the bedding was worn looking. The bathroom floor was dirty and the telephone in the bathroom had a thick layer of dust on it. The bathroom sink was also dirty and/or stained. There was also a hole in the ceiling above the bathtub that dripped non-stop. I wrote a note to the hotel manager and hand delivered it to the front desk about 9am on June 3. It took several phone calls after leaving the note and almost SEVEN HOURS before the manager called me. The room was cleaned that evening. But this is not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel or even a 2 or 3 star hote. Althought the amenties were beautiful, the room was rundown and dirty. The manager was apologetic but slow in responding.
