Stayed here twice, first time excellent, second time awful but good VFM for locationStayed here earlier in the month and got a double room which was very well equipped and comfortable, far better than I've ever experienced for this kind of money in this area (laterooms £59). I had no hesitation in booking again, but this weeks stay was a little different. I was in a single room on the oppositte side of the hotel, and the room was this time tiny, albeit fairly well equipped. Free internet was not available (on either of my visits) which was dissapointing and inconvenient for me. I also heard my neighbour return to his room at 11pm (which woke me up), and he immediately called recpetion to complain that the tap in his room was still running even though it had been reported at 9am that morning. After much arguing with reception and a couple of visits from hotel porters, it went quiet at around 11.40. The walls must be paper thin because I heard absolutely everything from the chap next door, including his flatulence. My problems came the following morning when I came to clean my teeth, both the hot and cold taps were coming out BOILING hot. I started running the shower and this also was BOILING hot and too hot to step into. I called reception, they sent somebody up to my room, and offered to take me to another room to shower. The other room was a good 3 minute walk across to the other side of the hotel. Extremely inconvenient and now starting to eat into time I did not have. No reduction was offered to me for my inconvenience, and to be honest, I was now in a rush to leave the hotel for my first appointment so no time to argue, In summary, the double room was excellent in my experience, and well worth the extra few pounds. I wouldn't be confident that this would be consistent across the hotel however. Not far off being a really nice place, but I can't believe they let people stay in rooms with such obvious plumbing defects. I drank the water from the tap and now I kn

Not up to muchThere is no way that this hotel is 4star or that the rooms usually go for £400. Something was wring with every order we made through room service, the room was small and stuffy with no duvet and the shower took about 10mins to heat up. The one positive aspect of our stay was the fact that they let us check in early (9.30am) which was great as we had been up all night with no accommodation the previous eve. Aside from this we felt really let down and thought that the hotel was seriously mismarketing itself. Avoid if you value service and the ability to communicate with the staff.

Not as we'd plannedWhen we made the booking it was based upon the understanding we'd have a double and single bed in an apartment style room. That was not what we got, we had two doubles which didn't work at all. As the hotel was full we ended up having to find an extra room in a nearby hotel. Need to be clearer on what you're getting

On the night I arrived (13/5) the boiler had broken and so initially I could not check in and was told I would be booked into another hotel. The young woman on reception was incredibly professional and courteous and I thought she handled the situation very well. She explained the problem tactfully and didn't pass on any of her stress and frustration with the situation. As it happened a late cancellation for a room in a part of the hotel where the boiler was working came in while I was waiting and so it all turned out OK. The room was lovely. The receptionist had made me feel welcome under difficult circumstances. I think the caliber of reception staff is incredibly important - it sets the scene and first impressions really do count. My high rating is probably in part influenced by the positive encounter in reception.

Not really 4 star - I would say 3 starBed small with sag (poor support). Room tiny with rediculously tiny bathroom - sink too small to wash face in! Would not recommend to a business user.

just about okall the key details for 4* are in place - 24hr helful staff, lift, details in the room (decent selections of soaps and rummage), plenty of towels etc.however it remains a building which has clearly upgraded as bestr it can in a physically unsuitable structure. many tiny, narrow steps , some of them spiralling between the lift and bedroom and so on. they have done the best they can.feels like a 2/3* that has had a bit of a leg-up. not a disaster but really nothing special either

Don't be deceived by the hotel's photosThe reception looks really nice, which is why i booked the room for 2 nights stay. But the room was terribly sad, with dirty looking carpet, a bathroom door that creaks, bathtub's partition is loose, there was only 4 channels on tv and all the reception was bad. the pillows were so flat that you can't feel it anymore..... in all, avoid this hotel at all cost!

Very small roomsI was given a tiny basement room with a window that opened onto a basement patio used by hotel staff for smoking and for storing broken furniture - unpleasant view and unpleasant smell of smoke resulted if one left the window open. Also room security was poor in that the window, easily accessible from the street, only had an ordinary lock. I asked to be moved and was given a room on the ground floor even smaller than the first. There was no room to even open my suitcase. On a positive note, the Night Manager was very attentive.

Adequate for one night. Very small, but clean.I was a little apprehensive about the hotel after reading some of the reviews. But, for one night's stay, it was worth the risk. The room was very clean, everything worked ok and nothing leaked. There are three points to be aware of though. First, every time a door shut somewhere near, the window rattled (I was in Room 003 in the basement, btw). I had to prop a newspaper under the pane to stop the rattling. Second, the lighting in the room was very dark and depressing. Third, the air conditioning was a bit difficult. If the temperature was between 17-19 degrees C, then it was ok. Put it up to 20 or more, you got hot air blowing from the unit which is situation right about your head! So, I had to decide whether to put up with a headache from the hot air or feel a bit chilly. I opted for chilly, but, couldn't find any spare sheets, blankets or duvets! So, if you are using the room just to sleep, then it is adequate. You could survive there another night. I couldn't bear the thought of coming back to the hotel early to relax and watch some mindless TV before going to bed. I went to the theatre and came back tired in time to sleep. One of my desert island items is Boots wax earplugs - these were very handy! The staff were cordial and my check-in and check-out processes were very efficient. The hotel is 2-3 mins walk from Paddington and a great location to explore central London. The free newspaper in the room is a nice touch, although Daily Mail isn't me! Overall, 'would I stay here again'? Yes, if and only if the price is similar to what I paid this trip (£69) and for a maximum for 2 nights.

Due to flooding, we were moved from this hotel to a sister hotel in the midst of the West End. This worked out particulary well for us as we had theatre tickets. The reception staff were very helpful and organised a complementary taxi for us. We booked two rooms. Mine was a twin and was fantastic! The room and bathroom were spacious and luxuriously decorated. However, my friend had a double room which was small and pokey. At the discount price, we got very good value for money however, I would've been disappointed if I'd paid full price. Despite being in the midst of the West End, you couldn't hear any traffic or noise from passers by which I was very impressed with. We also received a complementary breakfast for our inconvenience which I thought was a nice touch and the breakfast was of a high standard.

Value for money in London !The hotel was of a good standard, clean and the breakfast though rather expensive ( £12 if pre-booked / £15 if not) was of a good quality. The single rooms are a little on the small size, people who have concerns over claustraphobia should take a double option. For London the hotel was alround good value.

clean and tidy, not a destination hotel.for £65 in london you can't really complain, yes the rooms are small but if you want somewhere to stay if you're in town on a night out it's perfect.

They upgraded me to the club house as the internet was down and this was the main reason I chose this hotel was for the free internet access. They were attentive and I would def stay here again.

Room facilities are adequate - though often cramped, unless paying the higher prices. I have stayed on a number of occasions (so obviously have no great complaints!) - but the shower is often diffivcult to get hot - particularly later in the day.

Stay near Paddington StationIf you have to stay near Paddington station and book through laterooms.com this is an excellent hotel. My only remark is that the doors should close more gently or some of the guests could be more careful --since they slam their doors! Other than that, the room was perfect!

Front desk staff was abrupt. Room was very clean, and smelled fresh when we got in. Bathroom was small, but clean. Downfall being no bath plug, and limited to showering only. Room doors are very close together and at times loud, but that was only on the first night. Breakfast was good. Not extravagent, but good value for money. Again, road noisy the first night, OK the second. Would probably stay there again.

RoomRoom was too small and basic for four woman to share even just for one night. If there is maintenance work on you should advise the customers before they arrive as this causes unnecessary inconvenience.

A New Low in Hotel Service and FacilitiesOn business, company spent several thousand pounds over two weeks. Several colleagues will cocur with this assessment, other than no water one day and only cold watera second day, this organisation took a booking for a room knowing they were already over subscribed and transferred me to another hotel at 00.30 hours when I arrived. Managers were faceless and not available. Inexperienced students behind the reception desk. Never again.
