The room was really tiny but the bathroom was okay. The management has no idea how to provide service as I had a flight canceled due to Laguardia being shut down and was stuck between flights. They still charged me for my room which I think is really absurd since I had proof that this was out of my control. Also, they are undergoing construction so don't plan on staying in there during the day.

Great location Soho-Little Italy-China Town-Greenwich Village-East Village all walking distance so great for socialising at night.Lower Manhattan all within walking distance.Hotel clean and staff helpful but very basic room.No breakfast facilities-Like staying in Sussex Gardens London 10 years ago! Pay upfront which is not what you expect from a half decent hotel

I travel to NYC at least 3X a year. This is by far the worst hotel have I stayed in. There are no elevators and the front desk is at the top of two flights of stairs. Although my information was entered perfectly on my confirmation printouts, the hotel did not have me in their system. There are no elevators in the hotel itself so be prepared to carry luggage up very narrow steep stairways. The room had 5 television channels, no clock or alarm, no hairdryer, our shampoo was open and used. The shower stall was too small to even bend over in to wash your legs. At night, there are no open businesses to purchase food, toiletries, or anything else. There are only expensive cafe bars open. I also saw a mouse on the lobby stairs one evening when I was going out. The beds are very cheap and rickety and have only a sheet and filthy bedspread as a blanket. The only positive aspect was its proximity to China Town. I am not picky when it comes to NYC rooms since I only use them as a place to sleep. After a long day of enjoying shopping and activities, this place makes you feel dirty. Especially with hair in the shower stall. It does not help matter that travelocity charged 50 more than the hotel charges for its rooms. Don't stay here!

I wish this site was able to upload photos so that I could show you the bedbug bites that I came home with! I was just relieved that none seemed to get into my suitcase and come home with me. I would never stay here again.

Given the short notice with which we made our reservation. This old converted hostel provided adequate accommodations. The day reception staff was a bit brusque and uncooperative, however with a little assertion on our part they provided our room prior to their usual check-in time. The night staff was most courteous and helpful; they provided an excellent reference for an authentic Little Italy dining experience.

Great little NY findMy wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. We had seen a mixture of reviews, but as we managed to get the room for a great rate on laterooms.com, we decided to go for it. It was a great find - clean, quick to check in and out, nice bathroom. The rooms were small but when you are on holiday and just need a base to sleep, it is perfect. There is no lift, but there are porters available to carry heavy bags. There is also free tea and coffee in the morning. There are quite a few metro stops all within a few minutes walk, although they are on different lines. I would definitely stay there again.

If you're used to amenities like closets, bathroom counters or anything you'd expect in a hotel, then this is not the place for you. Don't get me wrong, the staff was very friendly, accomodatiing and available 24 hours a day. The hotel is truly within walking distance of plenty of shops, restaurants and the subway. If you're on a budget, then this is the place to stay. It's in lower Manhattan and about a 10-15 minute subway trip from all the major attractions.

I felt a bit misled by the photos of Sohotel and how it was toted as quaint, etc. Seemed like a redeemed roach hotel. Our room was on the first floor, right next to the front desk, and faced the street. Constant noise and traffic, not to mention persistent coughing and hacking by the front desk clerk. NO sleep. Cleam rooms though. Not the safest neighborhood. A good deal for the money. Not for everyone.

Basically, what I found was a hostel in a run down area of SOHO. There was no elevator, the floor was wet when we checked in and the noise within and outside the hotel was unbearable. To top it all off I ended up contracting scabies from the dirty linens in the hotel and am now being treated for the parasites by my physician.
