We were very dissapointed upon arrival as we arrived at 2pm when it said we could book in from and our room was not ready, so we reluctanly agreed to go back in 30 mins as we were told our room would be ready. After such time we returned and were told that it was still not ready. We were told we could have 2 single rooms which was not what we ordered. Very annoyed as we had plans that we had to cancel and others we then had to rush to, we complained and then amazing enough the room was available. Considering I booked an executive room I was very disappointed by the size of the room. It was very small and the bath leaked. The good thing about this hotel is the location!

The location of this hotel is great for seeing the sights of London. The concierge staff was the most helpful I have ever encountered and made the visit much less stressful. The lack of air conditioning is probably not an issue except there was a heat wave in London with no rain that made the room uncomfortable during the day while dressing. There was a fan provided in the room and it was comfortable to sleep.

The service provided by the lower levels of staff in particular was very good and the politeness was outstanding.

Excellent central hotel especially for lone travellersI was travelling alone to meet friends the following day and wanted a central hotel close to the shops and theatreland. The hotel is an easy walk from the tube, covent garden, the theatres and many nice and friendly cafes and restaurants. The staff on reception were efficient and helpful. There is a concierge which looked very down to earth and helpful although I didnt have time to wait to ask how far my theatre was away. It was exactly 7 minutes! My single room was small but scrupulously clean. Have stayed in smaller doubles. Breakfast and internet was extra but hey ho, you get what you pay for and I found loads of cafes within 2 minutes walk. WOuld reccomend this if only for the location- 5minutes from the tube and trafalgar square. Take my advice- just go for a wander.

Great situation on the Strand for theatres and being at the centre of things. My room had recently been refurbished - quite simple but value for central London - big comfy bed but no bath and I like a bath!!

Our floor was redecorated during our stay...meaning paint stink in coridors, jammed windows etc. But location's great

London downtown is expensive so don't expect anything extra for the high hotel rates. Here you get a simple room with the minimum facilities in the room and furniture looks second hand, but that's London I guess. Instead - excellent city location.

Good budget hotel in townNo frills, but everything you need for a quick stay in town. Clean, tidy compact room - TV, kettle, hairdryer etc, and a perfectly decent bathroom (good shower). Bit of traffic noise (hey, this is London), but overall great.

We enjoyed our stay immensely, the staff were helpful and pleasant. Ideally situated for a stay in the capital. Rooms were clean, comfortable and well equipped. Our room was one of the internal rooms and as such was very quiet. We will not hesitate to stay at the hotel in the future.

I have stayed at this hotel several times.I often travel alone and this is a safe place. They have been renovating each floor at a time. The last time I was there, I had a club room with king size bed. Very roomy, plasma TV,huge tub, good buffet breakfast, easy walking distance to China Town, Picadilly Square, Covent Garden, Bus Stop across the street. Tube station walking distance.

Compliments; clean, quiet, convenient location for underground, theatres, Covent Garden, Leciester Square, good breakfast. Complaints; bathroom door wouldn't close, twin beds, smoking allowed in lobby. Cautions Large tour groups, pricey

We checked in late in the day, and received what had to be one of their least desirable rooms. It was on the first floor in a wing undergoing light renovation. It was a triangular corner room, so there was street noise from two sides. The twin sized bed is smaller than what was shown in the hotel's online brochure. We asked if any other rooms were available, and even offered to pay extra for an upgrade. The desk clerk said yes, but manager said the hotel was completely booked, and no other rooms were available. Judging by the emptiness of the lobby and hallways, and lack of "do not disturb" signs hung out, I was not convinced. Since it was a prepaid package vacation, we did not have the option to just leave and find another hotel. On the plus side, the hotel's location is great. The included English breakfast is buffet style and the food is good. Staff other than the manager were courteous and efficient. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The room was clean, but small and it was quiet with the window shut. Since there was no A/C, evenings were warm. Next trip, I'll look elsewhere. Being stuck in this room was the only blot on an otherwise lovely trip.

The hotel is in an incredible location. Perfect for visits to the theatre district. However, I agree with the previous reviewer: the hallways were very difficult to navigate with large suitcases - fire doors every 10 feet and tons of them. The hotel is not on street-level and there are no ramps, so make sure your muscles are tuned-up. The rooms were very small (normal for Europe/England) and did not have a/c. It was 34-C (93-F) and the rooms did not cool off. Thankfully we only stayed one night.

Strand Palace is in a great location but the rooms are usually very small. I \"upgraded\" to one of their club rooms, the rate was good but the double room was very small. Location and price mean I will probably use it again.

I have stayed at the Strand many times when I have come up to London and have always had an enjoyable stay. Not the cheapest place to stay, but location, facilities, and service make up for that. Recommended.

Nice three-star hotel, perfectly located on the Strand. Bed in Club Room was a bit too soft, but room was clean anf facilities were okay. Breakfast at the hotel is too expensive, but there are a lot of nearby possibilities for eating breakfast. Would definitely go back to this one.

Excellent location in Covent Garden. 15 mins walk and you're on Piccadilly Circus. The room was clean and quite large for a single. Staff was polite and helpful. Only drawback was that I had to pay £2 for them to store my bag after I had checked out, since my plane left late at night. This practice have I never seen anywhere before. Would definately stay here again.

Fantastic location and good value for moneyReceptionist who served was a bit odd but otherwise friendly, she sent me away with my receipt but no room key or room number! She was apologetic about it after though. The room itself was was small but clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again, I'd stay away from room service if you've been drinking heavily though,... £20 for 4 (small) portions of chips was a big surprise. In my drunken state I thought the receipt thing they make you sign to confirm you ordered it, said £2 - I even high-fived the waiter and said \"Bargain!\"
