Worth a stay for overnightCheap ! Service good at desk, 24hr. Corridors a bit scrappy, could do with decorating, door fell off chest of drawers,tiny shower but clean and ok for the price. Breakfast limited but again ok with good service.

Swinton HotelStayed there for a night last month and it was not a good overall experience. For more than 70 quid a night and rated as a 2 or 3 star hotel I believe, the quality is an extreme mismatch. The room looks old especially the bathroom. The tv was hanging so high up the ceiling that it strains the neck just watching it. The tv is also small and reception is poor . The kettle looks too disgusting for you to boil water or even drink from it. They also had the most cramped and ancient looking lift with old fashion doors and it just makes you feel that it can break down anytime. It is also hard to adjust the water temperature in the shower as it seems faulty. The curtain for the window in the bathroom can also do with some replacement. Lastly, the water in the shower stopped just as I was showering and preparing check out. This experience is one of the worst one could get with soap all over your body and the showerhead not working. Had to use water from the tap to wash off soap. If my memory serves me right, since it was a month ago, thats about all of the major abysmal factors during my stay there. Would not recommend anyone to stay for the price charged, this hotel would instead be better off as a low end B&B with budget charges. Didnt get to try the breakfast so couldnt comment on it.

Excellent overnight stay3 of us stayed overnight in single rooms and we all thought the rooms were adequate and comfortable. The hotel was ideally located - about 10min walk from Kings Cross. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was just what we wanted i.e. no fry up. There was a good selection of cereals + tea/coffee/various juices, ham, cheese, coissants etc.I had a front facing room and the traffic noise was loud. Fortunately, I had read previous reviews and bought ear plugs - a simple solution. The other 2 had rear rooms and had no noise problem at all. I will definately consider the Swinton for future stays.

cheap, clean, perfect for one nightBefore my arrival, I saw some really bad reviews so I wasn't expecting anything good but luckily my stay was fine.The street was safe enough, I walked back home around midnight and it was ok, the reception is 24hours, the staff was polite and they gave you all the information needed.My room was a single one on the top floor, you could see the top floor was recently renovated, the paint was still fresh. My room was small but for 60 quid, you can't expect a big one, the bathroom was refurbished and very clean with a fairly big shower, the floor was tiled. Bathroom was definetly the big + of my stay.Bed wasn't great but you had the telly with 4/5 channels.The only thing that wasn't great was the walls that were way too thin, if you intend to get up early, that's fine but if you want to wake up at 9am, you'll be waken up by your neighbours doors and showers.You get some coffee and biscuits in the room, hangers for your suit. It almost feel like a hospital room which is perfect for what I paid.I didn't have breakfast so i can't tell about the food.If you want to stay one night or maybe two on your own, that hotel is just fine, because it's cheap, clean and very decent quality.

False advertising of room ratesAlthough the hotel itself was all right, the room rates advertised on Late Rooms did not match the room provided. Beware. Look at their website first and see what their room rates are. The price you pay will be the type of room you get, not the supposed discounted room rate. I did query this, and was told in no uncertain terms that as I had paid so much, that was they type of room I would get.
