The location is perfect if you want to go to the theatre and/or shop Michigan Ave. It is also close to Navy Pier and we even walked back. They are doing a little bit of remodeling which made the wait for the elevator ridiculous! This is the second time we have stayed at the Alperton in Chicago. It was again a very nice stay. The rooms are small but up to date and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is absolutely perfect for so many experiences in Chicago. I would recommend staying here and will try and stay again in the future.

Charming and accommodating. Confusing elevators. I thought it was exceptional for a romantic getaway- shopping weekend. The location is great! The bed was well appointed and comfortable and the bathroom was large. No bad points that I can see. Friendly staff as well.

The accomodations were very nice and I would strongly recommend this hotel. The hotel restaurant had a very limited menu and was over priced but the area around the hotel or a short cab drive made this a non-issue.

Great location and newly renovated. Cleanliness, the shower had mold growing in it. Other than the bathroom the room was clean.

after a great job renovating the allerton, there is only one problem as i see it. the elevators are small and there are too few of them. this may be expected for a building built in 1922. however, we found ourselves avoiding rides during peak hours.

I chose this hotel for being less expensive than the hotel that was hosting the conference I was attending. From my experience I wouldn't have guessed that the hotel was cheaper. The room was very comfortable with contemporary decorating. The location on N Michigan Ave was great. The proximity to a variety of restaurants was nice, but I especially appreciated it's locale relative to a Walgreens (1 block) and a subway station (Chicago Station-Red Line). Business travelers will appreciate the excellent business center (free printing and free copies) and the relatively inexpensive room wifi access ($10/day). The only things that were slightly negative were that the room had an unusual shape (slightly more narrow than expected for a two-bed room) and that the hallways and elevators felt a little claustrophobic. These were minor, however, and quickly forgotten after the first day.

The Allerton Hotel was very comfortable and family friendly. The location is perfect for Michigan Avenue shopping and dining experiences. We enjoyed our overnight stay in celebration of Thanksgiving in Chicago. We will definitely be back again!

The Allerton wsa undergoing renovation during our stay but it did not affect us at all. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The location was perfect for a holiday stay. We walked out the door and on to Michigan Avenue -- to shop, to visit our friends near Millenium Park, to look at the Macy's holiday windows and to find treasures at the German Market at Daley Plaza. We also walked to the Berghoff for lunch!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The work out facility was great and the location was perfect for shopping and dinning. The only downfall of the Allerton was the tiny rooms. They are just barely big enough for two people.

The location was excellent. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The concierge was terrific as well as accurate on all of his recommendations. It was way to hot in the hallways and made the rooms hot as well. The parking was twice the price as a lot around the corner. This hotel is a great choice for the value. Perfect location with a friendly staff.

Location in downtown Chicago. Room was cramped for moving around with two people. Overall this facility was acceptable for a weekend in Chicago. Room is well equipped with comfortable beds and a good sized bathroom when compared with the room size. Amenities were limited, but the lounge and restaurants for breakfast and light snacks met our needs.

Location, location, location. Dripping shower/elevator system. Great location. Older hotel with small nice rooms. Getting to and from your room, restaurants, lobby, and Street level were difficult and very time consuming, 1 elevator for floors 1-3 and another to survive the rest of the hotel, making it a two step process no matter were you are trying to go. I stay in 3-5 star hotels 150 nights a year and I would stay here any time (on floor 5 or below). V/R, WBM.

The location. Our complimentary upgrade was a view of the fire escape and the curtains did not close all the way, so we had to use pins to close them. All in all, we had a good experience. There were only two issues we had.1) the curtains in the room did not close completely, so we had to use pins to hold them closed, otherwise people could see in the room.2) after 11:00pm we could not get anything to drink (vending machine, room service). We just wanted bottled water and there are no services available after 11:00 (gift shop closes, no room service). We were told we would have to walk to a Walgreen¿s to get something to drink.

Everything was beautiful and clean! The space was small and bed against wall so one person had to climb over another to get out. This was a wonderful hotel in a great location. It was a small room, but not a problem because we were not in it very often.

When I checked in I asked for a room on the quiet Huron side of the building. I was told the hotel was pretty empty and that would not be a problem. I went to my room and found it to be a bit warn (even the fluorescent light in the bathroom was flicking) and looked out the window to see Michigan Ave below. The room stunk of cigarette smoke even though it was a non-smoking floor. There was only one bath towel, one hand towel and one wash cloth in the bathroom. I opened the mini-fridge to find the last occupants open beer and dip. Oh, and the in-room internet connection was not complementary -luckly I could pick-up the Omni's network accross the street! Room service is breakfast only.

The Allerton Hotel in Chicago was just right for our mini vaction/birthday present for my boyfriend. He had visited Chicago several times as a child but had never ventured downtown. The hotel was just right of the bus line and we chose to upgrade our room. This gave us a view of Michigan Ave without the noise. The room was beautifully detailed with its soft blues and beige tones throughout. The shower was like rain from heaven, not too hard nor soft but just right. The staff was friendly and helpful when we needed information on a resturant. I would gladly stay at this hotel again and we probably will near the holidays.

I liked the historical flavor of the hotel. I did not like the price of the parking. The Alperton hotel is a beautiful old hotel. The location is great, right on Michigan Ave. The concierge took a long time to bring my bags up.

The Allerton is in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the Magnificent Mile in Chicago. Our original room had no bath, but a shower. It was switched upon request. The room was clean and comfortable. Be prepared for a $45 a day valet charge, but it is unlmited calls and returns. There is remodeling going on currently,2/08. All the employees were friendly and helpful. The conceriege was very helpful and we were always pleased with the outcomes of her suggestions.

Everything I needed was in the hotel. Service was not so good. Everything was extremely expensive. Three bottled waters was $15.00. That is ridiculous. The breakfast buffet in the restaurant was $18.95 and the food was cold on it. We called for extra towels and never received them.

Great location, great staff, great room! Arrived to find out that they were overbooked and was immediately upgraded to suite and offered additional roll in bed at no cost. Upon leaving they were swamped with people leaving and arriving and had to wait about 45 minutes for car. Bellman and others constitantly checked to make sure I was being served and although I didn't think it was necessary was reimbursed for one nights parking. Granted additional perks were nice but even without them I would higlhy recommend for future stays. Was by far the best lodging experience I have had in Chicago. Thank you staff at the Allerton!!!!!

Quaint, beautiful, old hotel excellent hospitality and location. Small rooms. The Allerton is an excellent choice overall in the heart of north Michigan avenue for a reasonable price. The building/hotel has outstanding character overall and staff were very hospitable. Rooms are small, but very clean and fine for overnight accommodations. We had an excellent overall experience at the Allerton.

Location. Room had absolutely no view. Just ac unit could be seen and a brick wall. Older hotel but nicely redone inside. Has Michigan averred address, but entrance is on Huron sty. Lobby on 3rd floor. Have to take one elevator to 3rd floor then change elevators to get to upper floors.

The location was excellent for everything we wanted to do in Chicago. The website said that parking was free to registered guests, but when we arrived they said that their website was wrong and we had to pay. Very nicely decorated, restored older hotel. Very friendly bellmen who were very helpful. Location close to shopping, Navy Pier and the Hancock building.

Room was fine - great location - didn't get fresh towels one day - no response from housekeeping or even when I called the emergency number. Left behind a telephone charger which then mysteriously disappeared. Concierge very helpful pointing us in right direction for things. Would stay there again.

The elevators were totally unsatisfactory! Long waits, HOT, they went in any direction they wanted to even if the arrow on on the door said up and you got on you went dowm, it pasted floors that were selected and in the 2 days I was there I was stuck in the elevator once for about 5 minutes with two other women. When it fimally started - no words for our concern - it was like this happens all the time.

Nice, Convienient location. Rooms were not the quality I expected based on the start rating. The hotel lobby and staff were nice and the location was great. Compared to other hotels of the same caliper, the rooms were small and not as nice. The bed was small and a bit springy. It was a little tight for two people.

The hotel had been recently updated and it looks great. The room was small, but cozy and nicely appointed. There was no noise of the city and therefore I slept well. The one downside is that the room had a very musty odor.

i had a wonderful stay at the allerton. the only bad thing was parking is $51 per night. be prepared to find a garage in walking distance. other than that the hotel was great. we got an upgrade free of charge so that was very nice. the location is as close to perfect as a hotel can get. i will stay there again. it was clean, but a little small. the size was not a big deal....everthing else made up for it. i would say check it out!!!!

This hotel was a great location for my boyfriend and I to visit Chicago for the first time! It's safe and right in the middle of amazing shopping and fun activities. The exercise room is of good size and on the top floor with a great view. It was also fun for us to just relax and take a breather inbetween activities there. I would recommend it to first time Chicago goers and couples!
