We could not have been more happy with The Benjamin. The entire staff was very helpful and nice. The bellmen were always by the door for advice, directions and cab service. The Hotel was very clean. The rooms are very comfortable. We had a room on the 20th floor that had a 15 foot balcony overlooking the city. The location of the Hotel was within walking distance to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Park Ave, 5th Ave., Central Park, Garment district, Diamond district. The number 6 subway was across the street to take you to Chinatown and Little Italy. We will surely be back to stay with them again.

The Benjamin is a very consistent hotel experience--always courteous and helpful, terrific hotel service and rooms-- and very convenient. I've stayed here many times, and always enjoy it--especially when the price is within reason. Breakfast service in the restaurant was a little slow the morning I was there, but they were extra busy. But the rooms are very restful, well appointed.

The hotel staff, from the doorman to the front desk, were very polite, helpful and fully focused on customer service. But the real story begins after I checked out of The Benjamin and when my flight on USAir (I should have known better) was cancelled and the best the airline could do was get me a flight the next morning. Needing a hotel room for the evening, [...], the General Manager at The Benjamin, helped me get a room on last minute notice so I wouldn't have to sleep in the airport. [...], who was reachable on his cell phone, had worked out a room for me in 10 minutes. The Benjamin staff was fully informed of my situation upon my arrival to check in again and made sure I had a suitable room. [...], the Front Desk Manager, pulled strongs to get some of my clothing cleaned at a late hour of the day. I had no clean clothes to wear, but the Benjamin staff, thanks to [...], cleaned some of my clothes and had them back to me in 3 hours. The Benjamin took me in my stranded state (thanks to USAir who could only offer me a flight the next morning and made clear there was no reimbursement for my out of pocket costs - thanks for nothing USAir) and made me feel at home. The Benjamin is a small hotel that really understands the power of customer service and going the extra mile for their customers. I give The Benjamin a Six Star rating for their sincere efforts. The Benjamin should give lessons to USAir!

This hotel was great! It was in a great location for everything we wanted to do on our first trip to New York. The staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. We had an overnight flight so we arrived to NY early in the morning and when we got to the hotel they were able to check us in, which was great considering how exhausted we were. I am already looking to come back to New York and I am planning on staying here again.

Stayed 2 nights for a conference in the Waldorf, which is directly across the street. The rooms were exceptionally large for a NY hotel, even had a kitchenette area. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom decent size, but vanity small. Staff was very friendly, did not use the hotel restaurant, but room service was very prompt. Definitely would recommend this hotel.

Large rooms, accommodating staff, excellent location. Traffic noise. In NYC, hotels are like a box of chocolates and you never know what you are gonna get. Luckily the Benjamin was delicious. The staff was attentive, the rooms were beautiful and equipped with a mini kitchen. You could even choose from a menu of pillows. The only negative was the traffic noise, but I'm not sure what they could do about that. I really liked it.

The hotel is beautiful and the location is excellent. Walking distance to everything. The room was lovely and housekeeping was exceptional. I really loved the pillow menu. The staff was accomodating and friendly. The night bellman was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is the room service. We ordered breakfast the night before to be delivered to our room at 6:30 am. When it did not arrive by 6:40 we called to inquire where it was and were told it was on it's way. When it still had not arrived at 6:50 we called again and were told they never had an order for us. We were put on hold and when they came back on the line we were told it had already been delivered. When we told them we did not have it they said they would look into it and call us back. They called back a few minutes later and told us that our breakfast had been delivered to the people in the room next to ours who signed for it. They offered to bring us something else so we ordered two continental breakfasts. After it had not arrived within 1/2 hour, we canceled it since we had to leave for the FDNY Graduation on the other side of town. I would definately stay at the Benjamin again but management needs to look into the Room Service issues.

Small elegant property in excellent location for public transportation and restaurants. The only request that wasn't met was for 2 beds in the room.

I picked this hotel based on these reviews and it held true all that was said, this is a GREAT hotel with the friendliest staff- we were spending a family weekend with our two teenage daughters and had a great stay!- The rooms are so comfortable and CLEAN- the pillow selection is amazing and you feel completely catered to all the time. The kitchen with refrigerator is excellent- we filled it with drinks and snacks. It was perfect! Everyone is so nice and J- is one of the most attentive and charming- and (he has that Eddie Murphy smile) the asst mgr was very attentive as were all of the girls that worked in the conierge. Location is great-near everything. We are going back very soon!!!You will be happy to stay here.

I liked the intimacy of a smaller hotel with all the amenities. Spa waiting area is in need of a update. Our room was a deluxe suite with a nice sized bathroom which was bright and sunny. handy kitchenette area. Everyone was very accommodating. They also offer 13 varieties of pillows to chose from for sleeping.

For a NYC hotel room, this one was reasonably sized and very quiet. Light next to bed on one side was out. I was pleasantly surprised at this boutique hotel very conveniently located near Grand Central Station and mid-town's best attractions. Was the reasonable size and low noise level inside the room. In fact, Saturday morning we walked outside and realized an entire several-block-long market had been set up unbeknown st to us. The noise of several vendors erecting tents, police blocking off streets, never made it up to our 9th floor room. The Benjamin is not ostentatiously fancy, but it's modern, clean and has an air of sophistication without the snobbery.

Price, cleanliness, proximity to subway and JFK Noise, limited parking Small hotel with small but very clean and well appointed rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. Noise an issue due to small size of hotel and proximity of rooms to main lobby and breakfast area. Conveniently located two blocks from Jamaica Van Wyck stop on E subway line. Free contintental breakfast.

Very nice rooms, very comfortable beds. I was awoken in the middle of the night by a knocking in the walls, pipes maybe? Anyway, I called downstairs and they gave me a new room, which was fine but I had to get up and grab my things in the middle of the night (4 am). They really shouldn't have rooms with noise like that open to guests.

Loved this hotel. Fabulous location, and the suites were great for familieis--plenty of room, nice ameities, nicely furnished. Only complaint was that from our booking information and confirmed in person when we checked in, the hotel knew we had a group of three people (myself, husband and our teenage son) . We had booked a one bedroom suite with pull-out sleep-sofa. We discovered late at night when we arrived back from dinner that the room had no sheets, blanket or pillows for the sleep-sofa---you have to call the front desk for them. When we called, the front desk told us it would be at least a 45 minute wait. It wwas at least that long, maybe more. Would think they could provide the linens upon check-in if they don't want to leave them in the room, or have the room made up in the evening, or at a minimum tell us upon check-in that we need to call to request the linens.

"This was one of many trips to NYC, but maybe the best ever hotel and I've stayed at the Waldorf (just across the street). The lobby is small and the elevators seem a little small, but once you're in your room, it's really a small slice of paradise. One of the most comfortable beds that I've slept in. With a selection of pillows that I've never even heard of - they let you choose whatever pillow you want and bring it to you. Just a short walk to Rockefeller. Have an apple at the front desk too. It's worth every cent!"

We were given the choice if we wanted to upgrade for $40.00 per night to a one bedroom suite. Although we had to wait about 1 1/2 hours, the room really suit our needs. I like a room where one has more options than the bed to sit down. The room we were in had a king sized bed, a nice bathroom and a sitting room so my husband could stay up late and read without disturbing me. Our room was in a corner on the fourth floor and there was some noise, but we were in the middle of the city! The location was good, very centrally located and steps from the subway stop. One night we ate at the bar in the hotel and there was some confusion as to what we could order. We had seen a card advertising a burger and french fry menu they were touting. When we ordered it the waiter was confused and uninformed about the card which we had received at the concierge desk. There again was confusion when we received our bill, the waiter charged us for the bar hamburger vs the card special-it was as if he had never seen the card. I do think they should educate their employees better. (The hamburger and fries were good, though) It rained the entire weekend we were there so that was disappointing, but I would stay at the Benjamin again.

Comfy bed and had a bathrobe furnished in the room. No view and almost slipped in tub. Great location in the city and to JFK airport. Although bottled water is provided in the room it's a little pricey at $7.00 a bottle. The tap water tastes fine. If you want a view of the city you'd better upgrade. But good comfy, clean beds, bathroom, and amenities for an overnight stay it's perfect!

My husband and I stayed at the Benjamin for our 5th wedding anniversary for a trip. When we checked in we were told that the hotel was slow so they would upgrade us. We told them that we were celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary so she gave us a 1 bedroom with a verandah. We were very happy with the room. It was very clean and housekeeping was wonderful. The only slight complaint I have is that the bathrooms were rather small. It was impossible for two people to be in there at one time. No counter space near the sink to place personal items. Had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel.

The hotel was great, unfortunately the UN was in town and traffic (car, pedistrian, and taxi) was difficult -- Not to mention the the normally reliable NYC subway closed down the N or 6 lines for a day. The hotel staff was excellent and the room was comfortable and quiet -- even on the 15th floor NYC is normall a bit load, but much quieter then other hotels in the area. Location is a comfortable walk from local pubs and great restaurants. I would definitely goback to the Benjamin. PS there is a great NYC Diner (the) around the corner for carry out, or walk to a local restaurant for $5.95 breakfast buffet. Ave money on breakfast so you can drop it on a few drinks at the Plaza.

Great hotel in a very convenient location. Metro station across street. Excellent concierge services. Only problem I had was that I asked for a room with a living room, Orbitz rep called and confirmed with hotel and when I got there they charged me $39 more/night because it wasn't in writing. Worth it for me as I was traveling with my 19 year old son but should have gotten it in writing!!!

At check-in we were bumped up to King bed suite with microwave and fridge w/o asking. Front desk was great all weekend. Concierge extremely helpful with getting us started daily in the right direction. They have over 12 complementary pillow choices which you can switch out at any time, very nice. Even though it was 26c outside we had the a/c on in the room. it was warm in the room and then the unit froze over. maintenance was swift and front desk ALWAYS called to confirm we were happy (a/c,pillows,towels). avoid "white noise machine" they offer -no good. Great location, walk to anywhere, and we did, and 6 train across the street. A bunch of Irish pubs 2 blocks on 3rd. Steaks just 1 block and a nice diner. We definetly would come back.

The beds were very comfortable, and we got a free room upgrade. The air in the bedroom was very dry. The Benjamin is in the very upscale midtown Manhattan, near luxury hotels such as the Waldorf Astoria and the Intercontinental The Barclay. It's a very short walk from Park Ave and Grand Central. The hotel itself presents an air luxury without being too pretentious. The rooms are quite nice, with especially comfy beds -- there's even a "sleep concierge"! My stay was nearly perfect and I'd definitely go back.

Attractive decor with all theamenities, awesome staff. There are a half a dozen NYC hotels that I really like, but The Benjamin is my favorite. The staff treat you like family, the rooms are beautiful and clean, they offer high quality bedding, and it's in a great east side location.

The staff was very helpful. The air conditioning didn't work properly. The hotel was very nice and the staff was friendly and helpful, especially the door staff and bellmen. The bed was comfortable and the pillow choices were a nice addition. The air conditioning in our room didn't seem to work well but it wasn't a major issue but might be a problem in the summer time. Would stay there again when visiting.

Bathroom was clean and bright. Bedroom area was dirty. Stained carpets. Dirty bed cover.Room was tiny. Decor was outdated. Smelled like cleaning product. Toiletries were cheap. I can't believe this is a 4 star hotel. We were disappointed.

We were treated like royalty! The hotel is located in a very nice area; across the street from the Waldorf Astoria. The deli where President eat is right next door, and an pharmacy is steps away. The location is very convenient to Grand Central Station, and the pier where we traveled by ferry from NJ. The door man was most accommodating in assisting us out of the cab by taking our luggage and and haling the cab for us. We were treated like royalty!

They gave me a room with lots of light, accommodating the fact that I had to do a lot of paperwork in room. They forgot to deliver newspaper at my door in the morning. Rooms are not huge and general arrangement of furniture in my room was a small and a bit odd in allocation of furniture - but there were nice perks to make the room feel more luxurious. Staff was also kind.
