Lovely comfortable bed and was nice to have a duvet instead of the usual sheets and blankets. Excellent breakfast menu with plenty of choice.

Excellent hotel, great locationLoved the hotel. Reception were not phased by us arriving after midnight. My only complaint was the staff serving us breakfast were a bit offish. After waiting an age and others being served first, we had to approach them. Secondly, the waitress had a set order to ask us what we wanted and she would not budge. We tried to say what we wanted but she ignored us or spoke over us to ask her questions. She was quite rude.

I stopped in the hotel overnight on a business trip. The room was clean and in a quiet location. The breakfast was good, as with a lot of hotels, I don't think I would stay and pay the full tarrif, but for what I paid through late rooms it was very good value.

What a difference the staff can make.We stayed for one night in May 2009 having eaten and stayed before when we could get a good offer on Laterooms. We thought it was a bargain at £20 for a double room with breakfast, and so it was, but we would have been far less happy if we had paid full price of £90. The receptionist was polite and helpful, and explained that the room would be a twin room not the double we had booked on Laterooms, but the when we got to the room the beds had been pushed together to make a large superkingsize bed which was very comfortable apart from a tendency to fall between the beds. The room was large, tastefully decorated and spotless. In the morning we went for breakfast at about 9.30 having been told that it was served until 10. We could not find a table that was not occupied or left with the remnants of previously eaten breakfast. After a while a waiter asked us to sit at a table and he would come and clean it. Cleaning meant removing all the dirty dishes but leaving food and sticky patches on the table. We went to get fruit juice but there was only one clean glass left. We tried to get some fruit but there were no bowls or cutlery and there was no-one to ask. We wanted yogurts but there were only two left. I ate one but my wife didnot like the flavour of the other. Still no-one to ask. Eventually a waitress, with the sourest of faces, appeared to ask if we wanted tea or coffee and toast. We ordered coffee and toast. A while later the waiter reappeared to take the order for the cooked breakfast. A long wait then till the cooked breakfast arrived but no sign of the coffee or toast or cutlery. He returned with some cutlery and we had to ask again for the coffee and toast. Eventually we had what we needed to eat breakfast but the cooked breakfast of scrambled egg and salmon was now getting cold as was one of the pots of coffee we had been given. We have eaten breakfast twice here and dinner once and on all occassions have been very disappo

We booked this hotel for is location being close to East Midlands Airport and away from motorway traffic noise. We had a reasonably early flight to Madeira the next day and stayed at the hotel avoided a 5am start. It fitted the bill extremely well. We ate at the hotel and the food was very acceptable without being exciting. The descriptions used on the menu have been very well thought out. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and the beds very comfortable. The bathroom was also very clean with plenty of hot water (not always achieved at many hotels). What made this hotel a little bit special was its breakfast. Plenty of choice with high quality ingredients such as orange juice with bits, fresh fruit salads, large selection of teas and plenty of alternative to 'Full English' such as 'Scrambled Eggs with Smoked Salmon'. The 'Full English' was very good and the high quality bacon worthy of note. All in all a very good experience.
