General Description

Occupying a privileged position between the Roman City of Bath and Longleat Safari Park, this quirky privately-owned house is set within stunning grounds in the beautiful Somerset countryside. With a unique and interesting decor, The House features reclaimed wood furniture from the Far East which stays in keeping with the style of the building. The 15 double bedrooms are equally quirky so expect pegs instead of wardrobes. The House provides the ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area which includes attractions such as Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Stonehenge, Wells and Glastonbury. A bus immediately outside the house goes to Bath and Frome whilst the towns of Westbury, Trowbridge, Warminster and Bradford-on-Avon are all nearby.

Forget staying in bland chain hotels, the welcome and friendly nature of the owners cannot be bought elswhere. OK you may be able to hear every movement of the guests in the room above but this hotel is a little quirky and we shall definitely be staying there again. Excellent free coffee on tap in the sitting room and a super new snooker table with a suitably quirky purple blaize cloth. We booked a super deal with late rooms at £40 per room per night for two people as long as we spent £50 in the brasserie. We particularly liked the fact that we did not pay a penny up front (when booking) and also thought that the inclusive continental breakfast was excellent. The hotel was well used by locals which i think says a lot. Places like this deserve to be succesfull, lets hope this is the case.
