General Description

The hotel boasts a prime location in Manchester city centre. The hotel has a luxuriously equipped health spa, inviting you to leave the city behind and laze in a refreshing spa pool, sauna, or solarium. If you are feeling more energetic however, you can take a plunge in the pool, work out in the gym, sample the squash court, or even take an aerobics class. A hair and beauty salon is also available for guests' convenience. (GW 08/2008)All of the recently refurbished rooms are large in size and furnished to a high standard in a contemporary design. Rooms vary in style from floor to floor with some seductively furnished with dark wooden features and plum soft furnishings, whereas others are brighter in style with neutral and gold decor. Each of the rooms is equipped with air conditioning, personal tea and coffee making, mini-bar, Wi-Fi technology, in-house movies, and flat-screen TVs. An historic landmark hotel located centrally in Manchester. Close to the shops, bars, and restaurants of the city and a 5 minute taxi journey from Manchester Piccadilly Train station. There are three eating establishments on site. The main restaurant is French and is the recipient of two AA Rosettes and serves traditional French cuisine with an English twist. The restaurant has maintained an elegant decor for which to dine in. The Colony restaurant was relaunched in November 2006 following a complete refurbishment. This stylish brasserie offers a delicious a la carte menu of modern European cuisine. Wyvern Bar is a matchless venue for cocktails, while the elegant Octagon Lounge serves drinks, deliciously creative light snacks, and the ultimate in afternoon tea. The hotel is a very old, traditional building that once belonged to the Midland railway company. It has always been well maintained to a high standard. The hotel has undergone major renovations and the building is in excellent condition. The reception area is large, with ceramic pillars, tiled floors and a large sky light, which lets in natural daylight. There is a large seating area near the bar where food is served throughout the day.

I will most definitely stay at the Midland hotel again and will book through late rooms. I am a regular visitor to Manchester and uaislly stay at Premier Lodge, which I have to say are also very good. However, I was extremely impressed with the Midland and have already suggested to my Wife that we go to Manchester later this year and stay at the Midland.I have also already recommended it to a number of People and have told them to book through late rooms.

Lovely hotelI got a fantastic last minute deal on laterooms.com and was surprised to find myself in a one-bedroom suite, with a full, separate lounge room. The deal also included breakfast. The room was lovely and the hotel, although full, was very quiet. Breakfast was fantastic and the service was great. Also, the hotel is in a briliant location. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

Top quality hotel with a very impressive lobby, great breakfast & friendly staff. Great location. My wife and I spent a lovely two nights at the Midland Hotel, Manchester. It is ideally located for the Deansgate area with great bars, and for an easy stroll to the city centre. China Town is also very near by. The plentyful breakfast was included in the price. We will certainly return to the Midland.

Don't stay here (or eat here)If you appreciate the finer things in life such as red wine that hasn't been chilled, fillet steak that hasn't been burnt when you asked for it medium rare, potatoes that aren't raw and a head waiter who says 'what do you want me to do about it' when you suggest your wine should be at room temperature followed by a meal bill of £150+ for the two of us please avoid the Midland Hotel at all costs.

The breakfast was nice, but very British. I would have wished for a bigger variety of fresh baked bread.

The hotel is in an ideal location in the centre of Manchester. We arrived at Piccadilly by train and then used the free bus to drop us off outside the hotel. The hotel itself is very impressive with a big open main lobby area. The staff on check-in and throughout our stay were very friendly and helpful. We didn't use the restaurants/bar but the breakfast was very good. The only problem we encountered was some hairs found in the bed and one of the towels, presumably from the laundry process as everything else was spotless. We complained and it was dealt with immediately. Definitely recommend this hotel.

The food in the Terrace restaurant was good but had the same menu two days running . The breakfast was not good and overpriced.Half the hot items were missing .when they finally appeared after several requests to surly staff the rest was cold ,I have had much better in a budget hotel .

Big and nearly beautifulA vast hotel though comfortable and quiet when in room. Thought furniture was a little 'cheap' for a 4* and the bed cover was so heavy I thought the building had fallen on me when I woke in the middle of the night. Use duvets for goodness sake! Breakfast was excellent and the staff, although run off their feet, were unfailingly pleasant an helpful. Overall highly recommended. Look out for their deals they are excellent value.
