General Description

Welcome to The Plough InnThe Plough Inn is located in the village of Icklingham on the 1101 in the beautiful Suffolk countryside 10m from Bury St Edmunds, 12m from Newmarket, 8m from Thetford, 4m from Mildenhall. West Stow Saxon village is only 1m away. We are in the East Anglian Daily Times magazine, 50 great places to eat out in the county. The Plough Inn is part of the lord Iveagh Estate. The estate rebuilt the pub in 2004, extending the restaurant to 50 covers. All our food is cooked on the premises by the landlord Rocke, using as much local produce as possible. Front of house is Sue the landlady and restaurant and rooms manager Carlton, helped by a great team of staff, who have been with us from the re-opening in 2004. Your room has all the facilities to make your stay at The Plough as comfortable as possible with remote control showers, LCD-DVD television, free broadband access, trouser press, telephone, room safe, mini bar, teacoffee. We also sell papers. Whether your purpose is a holiday, a special celebration or business, you can be assured of a warm welcome at The Plough.

Superb B&B - ideal for touristsExcellent meals - really good value for money but not for the business traveller who needs broadband access - the property is rather a communications black hole with 3G being slow and no broadband or WiFi. They promise DVD but this is not in all rooms and my TV kept turning off. Some of the real ales are excellent. Management Response We do occasionally experience problems with wifi this is because it runs on one meg which our supplier has said will change shortly, we do offer clients the option of using a hard wire that we do supply free of charge. With regards the DVD, each TV has one built in. It seems that a previous guest had set an alarm on the TV which is why it turned itself off. I did offer to change the settings.

Laterooms offered this as an alternative to something else we had booked but that turned out to be fully booked. What a nice surprise, standard of room was good, the food and service was excellent. Only drawback was room overlooked road which was very busy in the morning.

excellent accommodation and food, but, the road noise is awful, meaning I had very little sleep. If you stay here, ask for a room at the back!!!

Staff were very friendly, atmosphere was very good, food in the restaurant was first rate, room was very good. Only slight minor was the noise from the road but this would not put me off staying here again. Overall it was a very pleasant experience.
