The staff was very helpful in everyway. Our room was very clean and very spacious. We were on the 8th floor and it was very quiet. It was not the hotels fault, but all the construction made it difficult to reach this hotel by car. We were on the 8th floor and we could not hear the L at all. Everything was very clean and our room was extremely spacious. We were upgraded to a suite that had a large sitting room and then the bedroom. The staff was extremely helpful to us.

Staff, free cheesecake, bar in the hotel. Entrance was totally blocked by construction, had to enter from block corner. It was fine.

The staff was excellent-from the bellman to housekeeping, they were great! The restaurant was slow bringing our food (breakfast took one hour) and not too good and expensive. It's in a very convenient location downtown next to millennium park with the friendliest, most accommodating staff I've ever experienced. Rooms are beautiful and spacious.

Chicago is an old city w/ some vintage, yet urban style. This hotel offers exactly the same look w/ spacious rooms and comfortable beds. The looks of the granite table tops located at the lobby extend to the vanity area, and complement the hotel nicely. When you first arrive, its easy to miss, but the Silversmith is a treasure worth finding.

Convenient location, room was small but nice. Maid service was late one day. Clean convenient with an attentive staff and with a very helpful concierge. In spite of the fact that the CTA tracks ran just below our 5th floor room, we could barely hear it.

The character was amazing. Seemed like a new hotel in the body of an old hotel. Very nice! The construction just outside, but that's not really the hotel's fault! The staff was very friendly and the building is gorgeous! The rooms were so comfortable. Especially after a long, cold day in the city! Breakfast in the restaurant was very good and very inexpensive, as well. I will definitely be back!

Great Location, Classy, Everyone was exceptionally helpful and friendly. Difficult to find - it is a bit difficult to spot. The Silversmith was a great find. The location was perfect. It is an easy walk to museums, theatres and great loop dining. The staff, from the doorman to the concierge and housekeeping service was exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Can't say enough good about this hotel from the clean, well-appointed rooms and spacious bathroom to the incredibly friendly staff. True, it's a little hard to find, especially as construction on sidewalks makes finding the entrance tricky. However, the location is ideal for getting to the Art Institute, Millenium Park, shopping, or really anywhere either by walking or public transportation. We arrived by train so didn't have to park, but when I was in the lobby, someone came in and wanted to cancel their reservation because parking was too hard to find. Best to check that out before arriving because valet parking is supposed to be available for $42. I can't wait to go back to the Silversmith with my family.

My husband and I spent a weekend at the Silversmith and the hotel was excellent. The people were extremely friendly and the location couldn't be any better. We were in walking distance of just about everything that Chicago is known for. I would recommend this hotel ton anyone and everyone.

huge king size bed lots of nice pillows. the whole room was big, bathroom was wow big, and the living area was seperate from bedroom with comfy love seat and 2 additional chairs. Tv in both living room and bedroom. only thing we didnt like was that the channels on the TV looked to be cable we had like 15 channels and 11 of them was news related all the time. when you take a shower that want you to use your towels twice before they changed them, was weird but we understood.

The best feature of this hotel is its giant rooms. My room included a king sized bed, a kitchenette area with microwave, fridge and sink, and a very large bathroom with separate shower and bathtub. The hotel has a small entrance with an elevator up to the lobby on the second floor. You will need to use your key to take the elevator up to your room. There is complimentary coffee and dessert weeknights, which we enjoyed very much the one time we made it back in time to try it out. The location was very good - it's on a street with the loop trains and a few blocks away from the park, so it is very easy to get anywhere. As far as negative points, the in-room internet was not very stable and there was no wireless. The view from my room was just all the other rooms of the hotel, but I didn't pick a hotel for the view. One strange thing was that the concierge was very stubborn in recommending that we take cabs everywhere, even when we insisted that we just wanted walking or public transportation directions.

It was not what we expected, it was way better. Great location, and easy to get around with the el right there. Rooms were spacious and had many more accomodations than other hotels I have been in. Great service, very clean, and great location.

My room was great and very comfortable. The restaurant was under staffed and took forever to be served and to pay the bill. The hotel did not have any shops and seemed very small, but the room was lovely and comfortable. The restaurant was not well staffed and it took forever to be waited on and served, however the food was excellent.

Extremely friendly staff, attractive and clean room. Elevated trains noise if you're up front (which we weren't). The hotel is unprepossessing from the street but beautiful inside. The staff was extremely helpful and helped us get the room we wanted, even before noon. The rooms (suite) were big with tall ceilings to beat the heat. We were happy to bring other family members there and see them be impressed with the hotel. I would recommend the hotel unreservedly, so long as you book a room in the center or back (as we did).

The El trains run above the street in front of the hotel, They stop at 10:00 PM, but start again at ~6:00, which woke me. My room was not in the front of the hotel and was on the top floor, so I expect this would be true for most all of the rooms. I did not find it a problem during the day, but unless you are a sounder sleeper than I am you will have a problem sleeping outside of the 10 to 6 time slot. The best part, besides the location, is the room size. There was a separate bedroom, a good sized work area, an entry hall, and a large bathroom. I've stayed comfortably in motel rooms with less than half the space.

I loved the proximity to everything and the front desk staff were fabulous! Wabash Street has lots of construction and the El towering over it. Also there was no microwave in the room. We were absolutely thrilled with this Hotel. It has a lot of charm and history- very European. It was immaculate and tastefully decorated- loved the high ceilings. Close to everything- half a block to Starbucks and a block to Millennium Park, State Street, and Mag. Mile. 2 blocks to Art Institute. The front desk were very accommodating and friendly. Highly recommended!
