General Description

Set in beautiful countryside halfway between Telford and Shrewsbury, The Wroxeter Hotel enjoys easy access from the A5 and M54. With modern and well appointed bedrooms, extensive banqueting and conferencing facilities and two acclaimed restaurants, we are popular for weddings and parties as well as for business. The Hotel is family run and excels in personal service. Within walking distance is the Roman site of Viriconium, Wroxeter's Anglo Saxon church and the most northerly red grape vineyard in the World. Within easy reach are the Shropshire hills, Welsh marshes and popular sites such as the Ironbridge Gorge and associated World Heritage Site. A haven of peace at the end of your busy day to relax, recover and prepare for the next one. Set in the heart of rural Shropshire, but conveniently close to Telford and Shrewsbury, the Wroxeter Hotel has a new accommodation wing of 15 well appointed modern bedrooms - many with stunning views of the countryside. Further bedrooms are located within the original Georgian building with high ceilings and period features; two of them with four poster beds and views of The Wrekin. Our Restaurant serves contemporary British food with local flavours. Naturally Sabrina, Roman Goddess of The River Severn, Vineyard grapes and wine, local produce and tradition have all influenced Chef Paul Marshall and the Team in the creation of our restaurant menu. On Sundays we specialise in silver served roast meats with traditionally cooked fresh vegetables. We also offer informal light bites, treats and sandwiches in our reception lounge and bar. We feel sure that if you visit on business, you will want to return with your family to enjoy the beauty and historic interest of this rural gem.

Staff were excellent, room let down by tiny TV with only analogue channels. Carpet on bathroom floor a strange choice too. However, heartily recommend. Excellent value for money

We were made very welcome at the Wroxeter Hotel and found all the staff very friendly and helpful. We ate each evening in the hotel as the meals were very good and were obviously made from good quality products. There is a large carpark so parking near the main entrance was no problem as my husband is disabled plus everywhere was accessible by wheelchair.

Overall very good services - only problem is that the wireless internet signals were very weak (despite the fact the owners offered a "boaster") and connection to the internet was not working 95% of the time - very frustrating for a business purpose stay.

On balance, a very enjoyable and comfortable 2-night stay. Slight problems with inexperienced bar staff very quickly and effectively put right by management - much appreciated. Check out was much better than check in - again down to an inexperienced receptionist on duty when we arrived - though all staff were friendly and polite. The hotel is well situated and attractively presented inside and out. The room was very warm, clean and comfortable and the view from our room over The Wrekin excellent. Breakfast was freshly cooked both mornings of our stay and service at breakfast was first class. I would recommend a stay in this hotel to others and will return for another visit next year. Very good value for money.

Excellent location for visiting the vineyard. Very large carpark. Rooms were clean and adequate, but unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to get a room with a stunning view of the countryside. Breakfast was very good. The decor of the place is clean but quite dated. The decor in the breakfast room was very floral and dated and could do with some modernisation. However, decor in the conservatory was more modern without losing the country hotel feel. Shrewsbury was only a short taxi ride away (approx £6) but very little to do immediately around the hotel - no pubs or even a corner shop for a couple of miles.

staff very friendly and the location is out of the way for peace and quiet. had a room with a 'wet bathroom' which was a first for us only problem is the floor is always wet. a cooked breakfast was served but a choice would have been better. could be used as a city break as shrewsbury is nearby.

A lovely little hotel which is only 5 mins from the A5, yet is in a great countryside setting & so quiet - the only sound I heard were those of sheep, horses & birds! Food is to a good standard & my only slight niggle is that the desk in the room could use a chair rather a stool, but all in all this was a great find.

A very enjoyable stay, pleasant room with comfortable beds. A small problem with the shower on the first evening was dealt with efficiently. The meals were of a high quality and there was plenty of choice. All the staff were really friendly and courteous. The Hotel is in a beautiful setting and is very handy for Shrewsbury and Telford. We would definately stay here again.

Beatifull quiet tranquil location. Staff very friendly and helpful.Only downside was the undersheet that was either plastic coated/rubberised which meant very hot in bed and made you sweat.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Service in at dinner was good but a lot of the time there were no staff around but the food was really good, unfortunately I missed breakfast as I was running late. The room was lovely, the only thing was the TV is quite small and the signal wasn't brilliant, this is the only fault I could find. It is in a beautiful location with lovely people running the hotel, thank you to the staff!

The hotel was very quiet on the night I stayed, which was a shame, as it has a lot of redeeming features: My room was clean, comfortable and had a stunning view of the Shropshire countryside. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, to the extent that they offered to make sandwiches up for me as I was checking out before breakfast and my evening meal was delicious and good value for money. The proprietors are clearly working hard to build up the reputation of the hotel, and I wish them the very best.
