General Description

The hotel enjoys a perfect location as it is within five minutes of Victoria station and Buckingham Palace. Shopping is also easily accessed as both King's Road and Victoria Street are just a short distance away. A unique hotel with a whole range of facilities such as a souvenir and jewellery shop, situated in a prime location. This Victorian building is very impressive, with its flag poles and all the typical Victorian touches to the brickwork, giving the hotel a regal feel. The lobby is large and superbly decorated. Its high ceiling gives it an airy feel, but it does not feel empty due to the many Victorian features all around, such as chandeliers, stained glass windows, and oil paintings. There is also a magnificent marble staircase which leads up to one of the lounge areas. The restaurant located on the ground floor is quite large and has an excellent range of cuisine including a la carte to suit all guests. The standard rooms are a good size and are well decorated in soft colours. The rooms in the main wing of the hotel are especially spacious as the ceilings are very high. Rooms enjoy modern facilities such as trouser press, satellite television, and direct dial telephone. 1 minute walk to the nearest bus stop, 1 minute walk to the nearest metro station (victoria), 21 kms to the airport (heathrow), 3 kms to city centre, 50 kms to the airport (gatwick), Close to the station (victoria).

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Its only benefit is its location. which is close to Buckingham Palace. It was just disgusting inside and looked like it hadn't been redecorated since the 60s. The beds were well past it and I could feel the springs through the matress. The whole place smelled musty and even though I was in a non-smoking room it still smelled of smoke. Don't waste your money staying here.

A Last Resort!Although staff were very helpful and friendly, the hotel was a bit grim. Third bed in our room (for 3 people) was a sofa bed with a very old and used and dirty looking mattres. Room was very stuffy. Altogether, it felt as though we were sleeping in someone's house that hadn't been cleaned in ages - and all for £70+ per person....(3 of us!). I wouldn't choose this hotel again.

Bathroom needs updating, had to ask for towels and had no hand wash. however the hotel as a whole package was excellent, very convenient for transport (3min walk from Victoria station). And a good price for 3 sharing.

Not good value for moneyI booked a family room which was advertised as being able to accomodate 3 adults and 3 children up to 12 years of age. Indeed the room had 2 double beds and 1 sofa bed but they were stuffed in a double sized room with no walking space in the room. I was very disappointed with the size of the room. The entrance to the room was long and narrow and I struggled to get the push chair in and out of the room. The location was well suited to my needs but the room chosen was not good value for money.

Hotel is in a nice central location - clost to Buckingham - close to the tube stations... Be early for the breakfast buffet, The room was a nice size...

We were somewhat disappointed in this hotel and probably wouldn't stay here again. The location wasn't particularly convenient to shopping or dining. The hotel was fairly close to the Tube. The front desk staff wasn't very friendly. The hotel was clean but very old.

Safe and convenient location, since it is close to Victoria station/tube. Within walking distance to Big Ben, Trafalgar area, and Buckingham Palace (all about within 2 miles). The room is roomier than expected, but the exterior is rather dismal. I would recommend taking the public transportation (tube and train) and going to see Windsor Castle and the free museums. Highly recommend buying the ""London Pass"" since that covers a lot of touristy attractions and all day tube passes. Put on some seriously comfortable shoes, and do dress well since they are not your typical too casually dressed Americans.

It was a last minute booking and we needed a room that sleeps a family of 5. With this hotel we got a pretty good deal pricewise comparing to other hotels in the area. The location of the hotel is perfect - just two minutes from BUCKINGHAM Palace. Room (family suite) was surprisingly big for London, and in general we were pretty happy with the room. The thing that we didn?t like about the hotel were smelly and outdated looking hallways which make you feel like you are staying in some cheap motel. If they could fix that, the place would feel much more appealing.

We had a great time in London. Wonderful place for our honeymoon. Had a room on the 2nd floor looking out on the Royal Mews of Buckingham Palace. Great location 2 blocks from Victoria Station, theatre and restaraunts nearby. Friendly staff, but the best, the absolute King was the concierge who was helpful, knowledgable and friendly. Restaraunt only so-so, but save money and eat your breakfast at the Cafe Panini across the street. Eat dinner all over London....and go to the theater! Wonderful stuff!!!

The hotel is around the corner from Victoria which is convenient, but the area is a bit shabby, particularly at night. The club room I had was typical for central london; functional.

Hotel was well situated ,close to Victoia tube.We had a standard room which was large and comfortable.The reception staff were friendly and helpful , unfortunately the same can not be said for the bar and resturant staff who were offhand and could not be bothered.The breakfast was only just warm and it took 3 requests befor the coffee came,they could offer no alternative for my daughter who drinks neither tea or coffee.I would stay again but eat out.

There was not enough space in the dining room and our table was not fully serviced. Please tell staff the difference between jam and marmalade, a very English preference!

I was very impressed with the hotel, its an excellent location, the staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food both from room service and the breakfast was excellent. The room was very well equipped and nice and quiet, I would definitely stay here again.

the room was very spacious and clean. the hotel itself is clean and safe. the location is great. Be sure to take your confirmation - we had problems with whether breakfast was included and the only way we solved it was to show our confirmation print out - we were not the only ones too so it is obviously a common problem. Don't use room service - £3.60 for a bottle of water that if you walk for 3 minutes to the train station costs 90p!!!!!

Tje hotel room was a good size and well maintained . The bed blanket and cushions were dirty although the bed linen was clean.
