The location was awesome. It was just a few blocks from the main strip. The hotel did have a 1920 or 1930 charm. The bed was comfortable. The shower had seen better days. The hotel was considerably less than most other hotels prices in the area. The beds were fairly comfortable, and the room in general had a 1920's charm. The staff was very helpful in determining directions and various tourist attractions that are available. But the bathroom, particularly the showers left much to be desired. The showers were small not properly maintained. The room was adequately sized for a couple of days stay, but not much more.

I liked the convenient location. The bathroom was run down and dirty. The staff was friendly and the location was perfect. We were put in the studio apartments next door that were older and a little run down. I don't really know what the actual hotel rooms were like.

The location was great right near Michigan Avenue, Hancock Tower and Lake Mich, great restaurants and stores just steps away. No room service, and the internet service was slow and one dollar for each call including 800 calls now that's crazy. Great location right near Lake Michigan, the great shops and restaurants on Michigan Avenue. Great attractions just moments away like the Hancock Tower, the Riverway, Legendary Chicago Theatre and Grant Park. The hotel is comfortable and cozy I had a corner room on the 12th Floor which was GREAT. The only real drawbacks are no room service, wrong time on the hotel clock, low internet signal which leads to slow or non working service. And phone calls are pricey one dollar for each including 800 calls. Overall it was a very good experience the hotel staff was very helpful and very customer oriented.

The location! If one is looking for a no-frills place to stay in a good location, this is the place. I would return to The Tremont Hotel. It's well past its prime. Spartan accommodations in a terrific location -- a perfect place to stay if you plan on spending 99% of your time out and about.

The staff was very friendly. I disliked the actual room. This hotel is great if you're looking for a hotel in the cityand that's it. I made the assumption that all of the hotels in Downtown Chicago were upscale but when my boyfriend and I walked in the hotel the first thing I noticed was that the wallpaper was peeling off and the pillows smelled sour. The beds were uncomfortable as well. I will not be returning to this hotel again!

Location and staff knowledge. No mini fridge microwave hair dryers some holes in walls behind bed. Overall not a bad place to stay for the price, but there were some maintenance issues (bathroom drain not working, paint peeling, holes in the wall behind bed and in bathroom), staff were very friendly and helpful and location was excellent. Building has lots of character and would be better if asthetically cleaned up a bit.

Dirty and old. I think this hotel, could use a lesson in cleanliness and just general maintenance. They still had Easter Decorations Out. Please don't call that a continental breakfast.

I liked the hotel because it was so close to downtown and all the local attractions. The rooms were small for a family but it would be perfect for a single or a couple. I loved the hotel. The staff was wonderful especially from the front. They went out of their way to answer questions. The hotel was at a perfect location. Loved it.

The lobby was old but pretty. I got sick from the mold in the room. It desperately needs updating and cleaning! Also, wireless in the room would be nice since there are not many outlets in the lobby where they have wireless. Not nearly as good as any of the other 2.5 star hotels in the area (I checked them out for future stays).

location. Smelly, old, rough around the edges. The Tremont needs an overhaul. The location and staff are terrific, but the building itself has seen better days. What was once probably considered charming, is now just gross. The stained carpet, over-used bedspreads and pillows, and food smells from the adjacent restaurant drove me from the room. That was okay because of all the wonderful sights and sounds waiting a block away on Michigan Avenue.

The Tremont Hotel in downtown Chicago is conveniently located to Chicago sites. The hotel staff was very helpful, and being a smaller hotel, there was less hustle-and-bustle in the lobby and restaurant. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The only negative was the limited number of television channels available. The complimentary WI-FI was a plus.

The Tremont is less than a block away from the Hancock building, seconds away from the best shopping that Michigan avenue has to offer. The rooms are spacious, well decorated and extremely comfortable. My only complaints were that there was no cable or coffee machines and that only a single elevator services all guests. Other than that, it's great and I would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable, clean, welcoming small hotel in a TERRIFIC location. Not super elegant with minor cosmetic problems (peeling wallpaper, crack in mirror, loud bathroom fan, etc.), but within walking distance of almost everything, (including train to O'Hare) and costs less than half the price of hotels in the neighborhood. I'd return there in a heartbeat, but if you're looking for a 5-star place with lots of extras, I'd consider elsewhere.

My wife, 9 mo. old and Mom enjoyed this hotel very much. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean and the lobby was cozy. The continental breakfast was a good way to start the day with coffee, juice, bagels, cereal etc. The best part of this hotel was the location. It was 50 steps from Michigan Ave. and across the street from the Water Tower Place shopping center. The price was fantastic too. I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

Location. Not family friendly, no extra amenities. The Tremont hotel is a good hotel if you are traveling without children. The proximity to the Magnificent Mile, Lakeshore Drive and Navy Pier is amazing. However, this is not a hotel for families and be ready to dish out the big bucks considering that there was no cable television, no pool, no vending machines, no amenities at all. You were basically left to fend for yourself. Let's not forget about the valet parking that costs $43.00 a night unless you want to park in a public parking lot a few blocks away and lug all your baggage back to the hotel. The staff at the Tremont tried their best to accommodate us and ended up putting us up in an apartment next to the hotel (basically used to house their offices and unexpected issues like ours), but we had to pay extra $ for this inconvenience. We also had a view of the side alley, got to listen to deliveries and garbage pick up. The room itself was at best below average as far as cleanliness. As a parent with three kids, I give the Tremont Hotel a big thumb's down!

The Trement hotel is located in the heart of Chicago. Many of the sites that we wanted were in a mile radius from the hotel. Ditka's Restaurant is located conveniently in the hotel. We ate there several times and were very satisfied with the food. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Had a wonderful stay.

Cozy ambience, not glitzy. Poor TV, no in-room internet access. Small hotel with 1920’s charm. Walk-through from lobby to Ditka's restaurant a nice plus. Great location just off Michigan Avenue. Old-fashioned hotel ambience, a nice relief from too bright, too flashy competitors in same area.

Price was right via Priceline. Small boutique hotel. Cable TV/Internet was out two days. Decor needs a makeover. Would be 2.5 or 3 stars if the room decor was updated. This is an old hotel (1921), and could be quite charming. In fact the public areas were, but the guest rooms looked tired. TV was mediocre. The cable TV and internet went out for two days and was still out when we left. Not acceptable. Great location for walking/shopping. Convenient to public transit.

Rooms is decorated in old bedspreads and no ice machine. Had to call front desk to get ice delivered to your room, the guy who delivers it acts crabby that he had to do this for you. Excellent location, front desk was very helpful, however the ice machine thing is a sticking point for me, especially since it was very hot out during my stay and I liked cold water/soda and the guy who delivers the ice seems crabby because I did not tip him, I did not feel I needed to tip him 6 times that he delivered the ice.

Location is fantastic. The room was exactly as expected. No surprises, which is good. The check in staff seemed a little harried. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. Good location. Staff, view, no ice, no TV, rock-hard mattresses. We were stuck in a room who's view was of all the air conditioning units on the 3rd floor and told no other rooms were available-which was a lie as many other people check-in after us. The satellite system was out & they offered no concessions for not having TV for 4 days, it's an ordeal to get a bucket of ice. There was a man walking inches outside our window on the fire escape at 2:30am and staff was "unconcerned" and had to call 3 times before they sent someone to check it out.

It had a special charm that made staying there nice. Nothing. Aside from a wonderful location, the Tremont offers a unique charm that cannot be copied by larger hotels. The location was amazing. Just off magnificent mile. We were able to walk to everything. Also very close to the subway for longer trips to Grant Park, Wrigley, etc. The staff was friendly and for the price this is the best location and place to stay. We arrived early and our room was already ready. The smoke detector went off in the middle of the night in the hallway and it took quite awhile to get it fixed and the elevators were incredibly slow, but other than that a great hotel.

Our room had a really old bed but was not terribly uncomfortable. The lobby offers coffee in the morning and that's it. There's a Starbucks across the street and Mike Ditka's restaurant is next door. We actually saw the coach having dinner there. We would go back but wish they would update the rooms.

Tremont is a lovely hotel....if your heading towards your 60's in age. My room was very clean, well thought out in design, but had a staple of items geared to an older person's taste. The decor was simple, yet ,soothing. Wreaths, paintings, china plates displayed on the wall, etc. gives way to the well weathered traveler. I was disappointed that ice was not available. No room service, either. Call me spoiled! This was a really well kept, upper scale decored, hotel for persons older than 60. The smell of scented candles welcomes you into the foyer. Mints galore, too. I was there for a girlfriends party weekend, so, my opinion does not reflect the purpose! I would we honored to choose this hotel for my parents.
