Trop is an inexpensive alternative for the LVB/Tropicana corner but keep your expectations low. The hotel is need of repair. Elevators dirty. Duct tape holding carpets together. There was a large machine, I assume a carpet vacuum sitting in the hallway by the elevators during my entire stay. Reserved a non-smoking room but none were available on check in. The entire place smells like smoke.

tropicana is a good value since you don't stay in room much. however the wait staff in casino and bars is terrible and slow. They don't come back if you can get them there to start. The room was overall clean with a decent view of the strip. The room upgrade is needed when staying here. The restaurants inside hotel are pretty good and good value as well. For the money the location is great.

The Tropicana is not a fancy hotel. This is a very practical alternative and is located just right off the Strip. I just stay in the room to sleep and take a shower and did not even use and need all the facilities except for the electric iron and board. A very practical and clean and comfortable place to stay especially in Vegas where visitors do not stay in the room whole day. great value for the budget conscious. I will consider staying again if the budget and practicality is the criteria.

The Tropicana was once a very nice modern hotel & casino but is in serious need of updating or renovation. The staff was very courteous & friendly and the food in the restaurants was very good. I'm not sure i would stay again with all the incredible deals out there right now. All in all it was a positive experience.

We didn't know what to expect after reading other people's comments, but we decided to take the chance and stay at the tropicana. Our room was really nice, clean and we had a great time. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was clean and housekeeping came in to clean every day. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. The hotel's pool was really nice also. It was large sized and enough room for everyone, although it wasn't crowded at the time. There was also a hot spa which was really nice too. Overall, we had a great time in the week that we stayed, no complaints. We also did the lunch buffet there, that was great... it was definitely worth the money, as the tropicana has one of the most affordable buffets along the strip. They had a large variety of food and was still serving breakfast during lunch. We would definitely consider going back to the tropicana if we go back to Vegas.

So the casino is decent as well as the shops and food. Staff very pleasant and helpful. The pools are awesome! The rooms are outdated and not the cleanest. The carpeting had stains and seemed really dirty. It's a decent place if you are looking for a cheap stay in Vegas.

We arrived and received the room we requested -- King w/pullout. The pullout was broken (a full size). We were offered a single rollaway only (which would not accomodate for the two ppl we planned for the pullout. Keep in mind the King rooms are on the BACK side of the Island Tower (view of airport only). After going back to the front desk, we were able to obtain a 2-queen room on 5th floor (pool side). They tried to say that everyone had checked in and that it was the only one left (gimme a break, we saw multiple rooms being cleaned. and you can't tell me that everyone checked in right at 1pm). There was not line for check in and everyone was very nice. Lots of desks (like 6 or 8 counter locations). ADVISE you to ask specifically about your room, view, etc before they actually book you to a certain room. It was a long walk from Island Tower to the street, but convenient to the pool -- which was absolutely fantastic. Although the rooms needed updated - they were very clean. Pretty classic hotel rooms. Safe in closet, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Light bulbs were dim in the regular living area. The bathtub was garden tub/shower style - huge bathroom. We were very happy. REALIZE that the King room was terrible, even disregarding that the pullout (barely a full size and bumpy), the bed was kinda gross (sagging in the middle). I've stayed in King rooms and have previously never been so dissapointed in the quality (nothing to do with the fact it needed updated, that i can look over - i don't care if it's quality and clean - not brand new). FOOD - very good food, reasonable prices (wide range to select from IN the TROPICANA), excellent service in all areas; even in the middle of the night.

The Tropicana is in a great location within easy walking distances to many nearby casinos. The rooms were quiet and clean, although a little dated. It was quite a walk to the casino and the front entrance, but not any different than most of the other casino hotels in Vegas. The outdoor grounds looked well kept, although the weather was a little cool to use the pool. For the price, I would recommend this hotel.

The room is not good for the business traveler. The desk is very small and there were no available outlets for my laptop. I had to use the coffee table and a very worn out sofa sleeper to work from. The room itself was quite dated and in need of a major renovation. I will not stay at the Tropicana again.

The sheets were dirty and had hair on them and there was makeup on the pillowcase. Obviously the bedding hadn't been changed. The floor was dirty and the whole room smelled. I think we were in the old part of the hotel. It was right by a main door, so there were very loud people going in and out all night. We could hear the police sirens loudly all night. I didn't get much sleep. I would never stay there again.

The walk between the casino and the rooms was a little long plus all the kiosks' tried to get you to buy something. After the third time you walked by the same kiosks and was asked to have your ring cleaned it was a bit annoying. Also be prepared to have $$$. Everything was insanely expensive

The Tropicania in Las Vegas has a great location. The rooms were clean and large. The view from the room was good. We could see the Excaliber, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay Casinos. The magic show we saw was excellent. The beds were a little hard but you are not in them that long. We asked for a nonsmoking room which I think we got but when the air conditioner was on you could smell stale smoke. Overall I would stay there again. It was very enjoyable.

The Trop is old, rundown, dark and dingy. The restaurants are horrible -- but priced like they were first rate. The shops are poorly stocked, the elevators and escalators are poorly maintained (one escalator was out-of-commission for the entire week I was there -- and looked like it had been out for a lot longer). The room I stayed in was dark (all the lightbulbs had been replaced with VERY low wattage), uncomfortable (the furniture was old and worn out) and downright depressing. There is talk of rebuilding or replacing the Trop -- obviously they're in a holding mode until something happens on that front. They're not bothering to maintain the place in the mean time. You couldn't possibly find a worse hotel on the L.V. strip.

The room we stayed the first night had been used by a smoker. However the hotel staff not only changed the room the next day they upgraded it at no extra cost. As for the location of the hotel, it was right in the middle of the Vegas Strip near the MGM and New York, New York. Overall, the Tropicana helped make my wife's surprise birthday vacation a very memorable time. I would stay at the hotel again. Bye the way, I am a proud Jersey guy, however AC has nothing on Vegas.

We were upgraded to a tower room (mini-suite) upon check in. It was the Paradise Tower that is more of a walking distance than the Island tower, which we liked because of the extra exercise. They gave us a corner room overlooking the strip for only $20.00 extra a day. I thought the overall charge for the room was excessive. Be sure to go to the Danny Gans show.Take your own pillow as theirs are those old foam rubber ones and hard!!!

The hotel is in a pretty good location. It's just off the strip, but you can cross right over to the MGM and go onto the main strip. The rooms were quite old, with mirrors on the ceiling and walls. Kinky, yes, if you're into that sort of thing. I was staying by myself and it really creeped me out. There is a big bath tub, but the shower leaves a lot to be desired and the showerhead was coming out of the wall. The pool was fantastic, beautiful, and the service was exceptional. Everyone was very nice and helpful - I really didn't have to wait too long for anything. Even room service was fairly quick. There is also an additional resort fee of $8.50 or so for each day you are there for pool use and whatever else. I didn't appreciate that added charge - I don't remember reading about that when I booked the room, but it may have been overlooked. The casino is nothing spectacular, but fairly big. Remember - in Vegas a room is just a room. You really don't spend that much time in it...so for that, you might want to give his one a chance. Personally I'd rather stay at the Imperial Palace for the same amount of money. All in all it was a decent stay.

The Tropicana is an older hotel and we were in the older part. Unfortunately, the heat/ac system was blowing cold air into our room all night (60 deg.!).The bed linens and blankets were thread-bare as well as being uncomfortable. The lighting in the room was very dark and half the bulbs were burned out or didn't work. However, the pool is beautiful and the buffet was good. The service was decent and did offer to relocate us and provided extra (worn out) blankets. It's also a good location.

As one of the oldest hotels in Las Vegas, Tropicana was not out of my expectations. It was like a typical 3 stars hotel you will find in any downtown of major cities. Not so bad as compared to other hotels in other major cities. Not so good as compared to other hotels on Las Vegas Strip.

I was originally booked at the garden suites but did not want to be near the parking lots, so I was offered an upgrade for 10 dollars a night. I was given the Paradise Towers instead. These towers are located as soon as you walk in the front of the hotel which is very convenient for coming and going. Previously I had stayed at the back of the hotel which involved walking quite a bit to get to the elevator banks and then to the rooms. I recommend the Paradise Towers for their cleanliness and more current renovations than the other towers I just mentioned. The room was clean and it appeared to have newer carpeting and a general freshness about it. Its a good deal for the money.

I received a complimentary upgrade to a mini-suite w/jacuzzi and was very disappointed to see how outdated the room was. the bed was hard. the jacuzzi was just a deep bathtub, that was so filthy on the bottom, I had to place towels in it to take a shower. the TV was a 15 inch with only 4 channels. the room was so old timey, I half expected Robert Urich of the old tv show Vegas to be downstairs. We spent one night in our room only to find out that our entire tower was evacuated because of e-coli in the water. Unfortunately, the staff didn't explain why...just that there needed to be a water inspection. We found out via the TV News. (I have a lower immune system and this would have been good to know!) It was frustrating to have to pack up our entire room which was spread out for a total 4 day stay and walk it across the hotel to a different tower. I will have to say though that we were lucky, our room was upgraded and many patrons were bussed to another property. It was also entirely waaaay too warm in this entire resort (hallways, casino, restaurants etc.). We fled a couple of days for cooler climes.

The Tropicana Hotel and Casino Las Vegas I discovered on this trip is one of the older Las Vegas Strip Hotels. The pros: the fitness center euipment was relatively new and clean. The room was well kept and the clearing was very satisfactory. The cons are the hotel has been poorly maintained, many walls where obviously in need of fresh paint and wall carpets in need of replacement. The elevators are old and I experienced one that broke but we where fortunate enought to be able to get out. The fitness center while good was it too small for the number of quests. It was full every day. The food in the buffet and the Garden Restaurant was bland and average. The Italian Restaurant ?Toscana? was a step up ? but was far too pricey for pasta.

Hotel room was very cheap. Our room for some reason have moth problems. We killed about 8 moths flying around on our first night and then 2 moths every night. Even though we didn't open the balcony sliding door for some reason there are at least 2 moths each night in our room. One time I unfolded the fresh bathroom rugs and there flew a moth. Thankfully there is none in the towels. I guess it was moth season. I would recommend the hotel to a single person only looking for a cheap room. Couples or family vacation, probably not.

Although this was a business trip, my wife and I arrived a day early to add a bit of romance to the trip. The hotel is very well located. As for the staff, we found all to be helpful and kind. The pool area is fabulous including one pool exclusive for adults and an indoor pool open 24 hr. This feature was greatly appreciated after a long day at business meetings. When it comes to amenities everything is in place- many restaurants, shopping, spa, etc. All in all we will definately book here again and again. Lastly the rate was suprisingly reasonable for what you got.

If you are planning to go to vegas anytime soon, I would not recommend you to stay in the Tropicana... Make your first visist or your next visist to Vegas with another hotel.... The Tropicana literally will just provide you with the basics: there is nothing special or interesting about it! If you just want a simple, nothing fancy, regular night's stay, then by all means this hotel is perfect...! TV selections sucks bad; service on the slots is very poor; and they have very little to offer when it comes to entertainment/shows... If you want your Vegas experience to be special and memorable, CHOOS SOMETHING ELSE! What I did enjoy about the hotel is the elevator: it would go up and down with such speed that I felt that I was on a roller-coaster dropping down! It was a lot of fun!

we booked thru orbitz.com. This hotel does not look as shiney and pretty in reality. The hotel put is a small room in the back of the hotel. Ceilings are very very low. The carpet was torn in rooms and halls. The halls smelled musty and smokey. The room was awful! Small, smelly, musty unclean, soiled bathroom with mildew on floors sinks and tub, linens were torn and stained. The bedding smelled musty and smokey. There was alot of noise from the floor above. I called the front desk and was informed that I was in a standard room. The manager informed me that the hotel was overbooked. He told us we could have an upgrade the next night. We were told that housekeeping could come to our room and "spray" the room. We toughed it out and stayed in the "rat cellar" of a room the first night. We were moved to the Island Tower on night two and for the remainder of our stay. I would not ever recommend this hotel. We were sorely disappointed with even the Island Tower room. The hotel is not maintained. It is old and smells musty. The rooms are a 10 to 15 minute walk from the casino entrance. The buffet was not good. Consider another place to stay if you are looking at Tropicana.

The buffet dinner and sunday breakfast was the worsest I think we have ever had. Sat. night dinner was not good tasting prime rib was burnt and no taste.....just really bad. Then we thought will how can you wreck breakfast so we tried it again Sunday because it was in the hotel and we didn't want to walk far in the heat. The Titanic was really great. Well when we got there to check in at 4:30 we still had to wait an hour to get our room. When we did get the key for room we had to walk up the esclator because it was not working we didn't think anything of it at the time. When we got to our room it was very dark. When I got up in the morning all the lights worked but when I came back from working out, In the middle of my shower one of the bathroom lights brunt out and the in the middle of my make-up the bathroom went dark. No big deal then we got moved to the new room, So we climbed back up the escolater and waited at the elevator for fifteen minutes. They have 6 and only 2 were working. I feel that this place needs an over haul. They forgot to take of the building all these years it has beed there. It just seems like everything was breaking or not working the whole time we were down there. Oh yeah, when we got our new room the light in that bathroom was like a slow strob light... off, on, off, on, off, on. I will never go back.

the time spent at the hotel was great. we had a really fun time. The pool was great and the cabanas were really afordable....the only thing that was not good was the showers in the room. the stream was way weak. other than that it was a good time

The Tropicina was just one night. I come to Vegas every year for a tackle show and spend the last night at a new Hotel. This year the Tropicna was a very nice surprise. Checking in was very nice was even upgraded. The room was extra nice large and comfortable. The sheets and pillow cases were very soft like velvet. So nice I bought some when I got back home. I may very well consider staying there next year when I come the the tackle show next year.

The Tropicana Hotel & Casino was a disappointment, the rooms smelled of smoke and the carpets were old and dirty. The location was good, it was close to all the other hotels and entertainment.
