stayed with a girlfriend for 1 night. on arrival were told we were not booked in and there were no rooms - which made us panic. luckily the downstairs ladies toilets were broken and they were using one of the rooms upstairs as a ladies and the manager let us have this room. he was most apologetic and gave us a free drink as an apology. we ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was fabulous - although the waitress seemed new and kept forgetting about us. the breakfast was superb in the morning and the whole experience was excellent. i would definately consider going there for a weekend so that i could see more of the surrounding area.

We arrived late afternoon and went to our room, the room was good but the food was awful, I ordered a chicken salad it took nearly an hour to arrive and when it did it was luke warm chicken and very little salad for the price of £9.00. My partner ordered a steak and chips at £11.00 and again he had about 8 chips and a chewy piece of steak, the puddings were better than the main. Breakfast in the morning was awful too, deep fried bread, mushrooms and sausage all dripping with fat, we didnt eat it, just had toast and tea. Its a shame a nice Inn but food awful.

Old English Coaching InnWe had a spacious old fashioned room (high ceiling, sofa) with a very comfortable bed, combined with an up-to -date en suite bathroom. Still a work in progress - eg broken sash cord on the window which had not yet been fixed, but well on the way to first class standard. Enthusiastic management and staff. Dining was -pleasant if unadventurous, with a good wine list and the breakfast was up to Cruise standard!

Some pro's and con's with this establishment. For the con's; Our room was not as booked, we ordered a double and got a twin, and were told our booking had been made remotely therefore the hotel did not know it was wrong; The service in the restaraunt was shockingly slow; The young girl checking us in didn't know where our room was or what time breakfast was served and the parking at the hotel is a problem as it is shared with the pub, we had to park in a nearby street and carry our bags. For the pro's; The room was very clean, comfortable and quiet; The quality of the food in the restaraunt and at breakfast was excellent, and extremely good value for money; the location is excellent for exploring Bath and surrounding countryside. Overall good value for the discounted rate paid, but a bit hit and miss for the full tariff rate.

attic room, a bit small and dark, could do with brighter light bulbs, access would be unsuitable for elderly or disabled. very nice full English breakfast in a bright dining room.

The food that was served for our evening meal was of a poor standard. The soup was like water and the salad, a bowl of salad leaves was well past the sell by date! We were given an alternative room to the attic room, which was lovely. Breakfast was delicious and of a high standard. Compliments to the chef! p.s: please hoover behind those wedged open fire doors!
